Hi. I need your help/advice. Just joined this forum.. I'm 31 male, 6ft tall, weigh in at 102kg.. Good level of fitness, although i could do with loosing some weight. Own a road bike and a mountain bike which i both used quite regally up until five months ago due to problems with my knees.

Didn't even consider an ebike until trying out a RooDog Striker a few weeks ago at a camper show, so now got the bug for it. Looking for a bike mainly for leisure use and the odd commute to work which is about 7 miles each way, although I do live on top of a big hill. Would probably end up riding a maximum of 25-30 miles, both up and downhill. Looking to spend a maximum of £1500, but somewhere around the £1300 mark would be ideal. Want a bike that still requires effort from the rider, looking for a mountain style bike, love the look of the Kudos bikes, tornado etc.

Thank you in advance.

I just worry with my weight being just over the limit, would it still be good on the hills..
Craig,I am 105kgs on a good day,6ft1" tall, the Tornado and Typhoon (the 29" version of the Tornado)both pull me up hills with ease. Your height is about the same as mine and I prefer the Typhoon, riding with 29" wheels has a real 'king of the road feel'
Both HelenC and Jimod have published reviews on the Tornado and Typhoon on this forum.D8veh can always be relied upon to give an honest view,he is very respected on this forum

The Tornado would be fine with your weight. I have a Tornado and am about the same weight You'll soon lose a few kg once you get cycling again regularly.

I think you'll get better torque on the Tornado because of the smaller wheels.

Hi Craig,
In terms of performance, quite a few electric bikes will do what you want, including any eZee bike, OK it's not an MTB, but even the Sprint Primo at £850 is capable enough.
