Flecc....which is why I am insistent that my customers have a trial ride in front of my warehouse before venturing out with pedestrians around....most e-bike customers don't appreciate that the PAS display is effectively a throttle....in a confined environment turn down the power to PAS-low(position1)and the progress is more easily controlled...so many put the power on high, leave it on that position permanently and their progress is very stoccato and much use of the brakes which wastes power, but it all improves with practice.
PS....I said to my wife flecc would rumble me immediately, you didn't dissappoint.

Oxygen James...as this matter is very critical to you personally I strongly suggest that you write to BH Emotion UK with your questions....I am obviously not at work at the moment so cannot comment on what is identified on the bicycle.

Thanks Dave. I'm talking to an Ian there right now and have just asked him exactly that question - I thought you might be near a bike - on my Oxygen it has the EN15194 and 250W written on the frame - I'm curious to see whats on the Neo bike.

Also - I will probably be coming down to you in Kent sometime next week - will call first.

James, Dave has now seen the EN 15194 certificates so you can rest assured the Neo range is legal in the UK, They also have a sticker on which states that they comply.

Now, that was an interesting thread although the subject has been discussed more than once that I can remember.

It really isn't clear-cut, is it? A horses for courses thing to a large extent, I feel, though I have my own preference but can see how others might disagree on power delivery methods. Having spend the last week riding a hub-drive bike, I can see why some people like them but my Panasonic does feel more sophisticated and controllable, I found on reverting to it yesterday.

I can't wait to hear Bob's (Blew it) opinion on the Haibike Trekking model in due course as I think that's very close to my ideal bike at this present moment. The choice of bikes on the scene at this moment is fantastic and I'm not sure any one machine would satisfy my varying moods and the changeable weather we have.

Yes I agree Indalo - the choice is prety good right now - I'm swaying between the Haibike (I found Ebay in Germany has every model and some on auction not just buy it now - also Singapore Ebay has some) - then the Neo Cross which really is a nice looking bike - then of course there is the Cytronex - they have some nice looking bikes too.

BUT.

Its not just about looks now is it? Though I think too many manufacturers underestimate how vain we all are - but the Oxygen emate I have right now really is a good all rounder and the three months I've had it so far it really has been excellent. I'm not using it for commuting - but I do ride up to Wimbledon common pretty much everyday for a walk if I am not working at a clients (nice lunch-time break) - and it goes up the hill to the Village pretty darn well - I have also just ordered some fatter tyres for it to make it look a bit chunkier (26 x 2.3 but close nobbles so not too loud on the road) and also ordered a smaller battery (10aHr) to again make it look a bit better seeing as I dont need the range I am getting off the massive battery it currently had (it has a 14/15aHr that gives me over 70 miles sometimes). It also has a twist and go which I find helpful in this part of London - all in all its been very good - but there are those temptations!

And I bet as the battery technology gets even better there will be more and more bikes like the Neo cross coming out where its tricky to even tell that its an electric bike - and with petrol at these prices and set to go higher who is going to care if these bikes are all £2K plus?

One thing I will say - I'm a sales-person by trade - quite a few of the electric bike compaines could do with some serious sales training - Dave at Kudos seems to know what he's doing but without naming too many other names I have bumped into quite a number of people out there in this business who would seem to be happier with a soldering iron in their hands than having any serious ideas on how to develop and then market a brand - maybe if the industry ever does grow then that side of things will become how shall we say more 'professional'.

Anyhow. I'm rambling now.

My new tires and battery arrive next week and hopefully this relatively small out-lay will prevent me going on and spending £2-3K on a new bike. We shall see.

A bit of a harsh rambling considering without these people you wouldn't have anything to sell.

Hey sorry I'm not wanting to be overly critical - btw I'm not sure what you mean by without them I'd have nothing to sell..... I dont sell electric bikes........ I suppose my comment was sparked off by going down to test ride a Cytronex and when I got there the front of the shop was branded completely differently - no-hills I think - and then there was a third brand too there I noticed - and the email address's were interchangable and none of them were completely up to date with the specs of the bike - all very basic stuff that any sales-person would want sorted ASAP.

I'm very happy with the service at Oxygen - Andrew has been more than helpful since I got the bike - I now look forward to my new chubby tyres and new smaller battery! (its the little things that make us happy huh?).

Sorry to take this thread off topic - maybe a new one with advice on selling and marketing ideas could be started.

Hi, nothing personal, nice of you to clarify your concerns, I now can understand what you meant.
I agree that it is important to join all the dots together for the LBS as these are tough times and it pays to run a tight ship as the online competition seems to be growing.
Some wise traders have taken the E-bike service side of the business and developed it as a unique selling point perhaps the workshop side could be more on display similar to having open kitchens in restaurants, even having service training courses for their customers.

Sure - I hear you - it is indeed getting tough out there and congruency within your brand - and attention to detail - are two things that to me determine success or failure.
