Best tyres for Carrera Crossfire-E?

The Crossfire-E tyres are cheap and nasty and I am fed up with the amount of punctures I've had on the tyre on the rear wheel. I am wanting to buy a good puncture resistant tyre as well as the new gel tubes to reduce the number of punctures I get. Any recommendations? Another thing is how easy is it to remove the rear wheel since it has a electric motor cable attached to it?

There's a motor cable connector right near the axle, so no problem at all.

For puncture resistance and long life, Schwalbe Marathon Plus. That's assuming riding on the road. i wouldn't use them for any serious off-road riding. Don't worry if you have to go down in size 1.75 will still be OK.

+1 for Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB tyres. As d8veh mentions, they are not for hardcore off-road, but they'll be fine on a Crossfire. The Crossfire is more an on road, light off-road bike.

If you are riding all on road, then the regular Marathon Plus' will suffice.

I would. No point in only having maximum puncture protection on one wheel. Sod's law you will get a puncture on the non protected tyre.

This might be controversial, but I always try to fit the same tyres on all wheels, whether on my bike or the car. Difference in tyre characteristics could create unpredictable handling. It's only a personal opinion though.

I wouldn't want to be changing an inner tube out on a ride. Why not fit a Slime filled tube, as well as the Marathon Plus on the rear wheel. Just for peace of mind.

I have two Marathon Plus MTB tyres on my bike. The rear has a Slime tube as in link above. I had a puncture many months ago and the Slime tube saved the day. Lost a bit of pressure, but rode home, pumped it up and haven't had any problems since.

The majority of punctures are in the rear wheel. At least that has always been my experience.

MP tyres pretty much guarantee puncture free riding/commuting. Again in my experience I avarage about a puncture every two or three years using these, though having said that I then often get two in a row lol

Schwalbe Energiser Plus size 700 x 35 is what I have run for the last year on my Crossfire-e. Not a single puncture in 3000 miles, great grip in the dry and wet, and low rolling resistance. Best bit is the price, only £10.99 each from SJS Cycles

Went up a size to 700 x 38 for the Mrs crossfire-e, a bit more comfort. Might try the tour version when these wear out, but they still look new after 3k miles so might have to wait a while

Looking for advice on this too. Just had my first puncture in a canal towpath. I do a mix of road and towpath, which can be a bit rough, to get to work. The bike is heavy anyway, so I figured stronger tyres and probably some slime tubes. I don’t want to be pissing about fixing punctures when I’m trying to get to work.
Someone on another thread said he’d modded his with these

got my Schwalbe energiser plus from bike de Germany, 27.5 wheel slightly less puncture restant than m plus but ebike specific up to 50 kph
£32 for a pair, had to buy tubes
but bike de are now charging £13 + for delivery.
