Best conversion kit for 27.5 inch hybrid bike

Hello,

For the last couple of weeks I have been researching which ekit should I choose for my Carrera Subway 1 bike. I am a bit confused at the moment.

I spend a lot of time cycling because that's how I do deliveries. It's my main job at the moment.

Could anyone recommend me a good, reliable option?

I wanted to get Cyclotricity kit, but there are no 27.5 wheel option.

There isn't a best kit. They all work. You need to define what you mean by best. Generally, a rear internally-geared rear cassette hub-motor is a good choice for road use on a bike like yours.

Converting isn't always cheapest but can be easier to repair.
For wheel options you can buy at kit and have the hub laced into your existing rim.
Alternately a GSM mid drive (fromWoosh) with external controller will work, no need to worry about wheel size then.

I'd like the kit to be reliable, waterproof and the battery to last for about 40 miles. I usually do 20-35 miles daily. Sometimes at the end of the day I'd like some support while going uphill. It would be amazing if the motor was light weight as I'd like to not only rely on the motor and extend the range if possible.

Is it better to get a 250W or 500W motor?

Would you be able to recommend any company?

1. Avoid those big 500w direct drive motors that you see in the cheap ebay kits. A 500w geared hub-motor will be heavier than a 250w one and will need a heavier battery, so if you want light-weight, it has to be a 250w or 350w one.

I too had the same issues regarding 27.5 inch wheels on My Carrera Vulcan. I finally found Electric bike Conversions (EBC) in Datchworth Hertordshire. They have been brilliant to deal with, phone, interactive chat, and of course email, they will always pick the phone up immediately if you need them. I posted on here about 3 weeks ago (48v 1000watt rear hub 13ah Samsung battery EBC conversion kit) this is the kit I purchased off them about 8weeks ago now for £599. Keeping it on power 1&2 And occasionally giving it a touch of throttle I got 40 miles out of it just this Saturday, and it still was reading 1 bar of battery left.

Bare in mind I've got the LCD set to the highest speed setting 72kph! If I was to lower that to the legal 25kph limit, that of a 250watt motor, which incidentally is easy to do, and takes seconds - all in the manual that comes with the kit. I'm sure you can squeeze even more out of it. And of course for you where distance is the No1 goal, You can purchase the very same kit from Cycle tech in Oldam greater Manchester for £60 more with a 15ah battery option, these guys are also a fabulous company to deal with.

ive got the tdz2 cd drive on my Carrera subway bought originally from ebc,
but you have to reroute the cables underneath the front tube.

mine is the 250w vertion in hindsite I would buy the 350w one.
using sport mode with the ebc battery only get about 25 miles 35 with new 17ah battery
flattish terrain.

If you look at the last couple of threads that I started. They relate to my self built of my Specialised Crosstrail 700c rear hub kit that I have just done. I am very pleased with the outcome and performance of the kit used, from 2 different suppliers.
Had a few teething issues, but that was more me than the kit. Worth a look !

I thought they only sold freewheel motors. Did you get a cassette one?
