Belt Drive

This came up on Reddit. It looks like a standard Aikema (AKM) cassette motor with an adapter for belt drive. It might be interesting to someone. I searched, but I can't find the adapter.

Don't forget that to fit a belt you need a frame that has a removable piece to get the belt on. There are belts that split, but I expect that they're expensive, and I'm not sure that I'm trust one. Some guys are doing tests with home made graphine added to their 3D Printer materials to make very strong parts, so it might be possible to cut a piece out of a seat stay and replace it with a double clamp joiner piece some time soon.

I think belt drives are pretty cool tech wise, but as far as im aware they are unfixable. So if it snaps, you're stuck.
At least chains can be easily repaired.

Veer do a joinable belt drive, it is designed for frames with horizontal dropouts. You could maybe modify a chain tensioner, remove the chain sprocket and replace with one of their rear sprockets , a filler middle plate and a bearing.

Chains are recyclable and environmentally friendly. Belts are going to end up as landfil pumping out noxious fumes. Is that a deciding factor?

You don't need to oil a belt drive or use so much degreaser so I suppose both systems have pros and cons.
Chains will just rust away to nothing so from that point of view they are better.

I thought of that, but the oil and grease that you put on a chain falls off and spreads around while you're riding, then it gets eaten by bacteria, so is good for life. Bacteria are necessary for all sorts of things. Without a gut full of them, you'd die very quickly. You have about 100,000,000,000,000 of them in your gut, but not all of them are good. I guess when it's that crowded , some of them are bound to start fighting with each other or complain about their working conditions.
