Hello.

Just finished motorising my road touring bike.
I am looking to re-flash my controller and have been looking around for the amps limit for a BBS01B 250W 48v.
This motor seems to get almost zero hits on Google. Is it an unusual configuration?

I am looking to use the bike for commuting in a hilly city (Sheffield) and in the Peak District, sometimes with loaded panniers for camping.
So, I want a slightly conservative Amp limit to protect the motor/battery/controller/whatever.
Can anyone advise a suggested setting (and explain how it was arrived at).
I have a 48v 20Ah battery too if that helps.
All speed settings will be UK legal.

Cheers

Az.

I don't have BBS01, but if I were you I would just try different settings starting with 15A (assuming you have decent battery).
For me 16A is more than enough for every scenario.

Do you have more information and a product link, so the battery experts can advise re: safe continuous current discharge?

I'd be interesting to read if the current limit of your controller can be increased. Unfortunately, @peter.c's isn't:

The 48 v 250watt bbs01 is firmware locked to 12 amps max, not found away around this in a 12+month search mine is on without a throttle as well .

OK. Cheers for the heads up to the other thread @guerney.

I'm fine with the Amps being locked.

The throttle is locked too?
Some said that theirs were locked at 4 mph.
Mine seems to be locked to motor cadence.
I did change the settings on the 500c to 4 mph.
In 1st gear (R34t x F44t) it is about 4 mph, i.e. walking speed.
As I go through the gears I can get to about 10 mph on the flat.
I only want to just cap it a walking throughout.

I did manage to limit the throttle by specifying amperage and speed values for a pedal assistance level on my DPC18 display, and assigning the throttle to that level. How is on this thread somehere:

It worked, limited throttle speed to 6kph in use (usually a little over 4kph when climbing), but I don't think the BBS01B controller is terribly good at calculating low speed. Current control worked best, got me up hills very slowly. Hard to balance going so slow on a 20" wheeled bike, however. I've removed the throttle since, not needed.
