Hi just got new ebike today.
Batteries on charge hopefully weather permitting a ride tomorrow.
I noticed the batteries have 4 terminals 2 neg 2 pos. how do you check voltage with volt meter?

What make of bike and battery do you have?

Any advice to settings would be appreciated, I am not an electrician.
Two suggestions:
1. Can you post a photo of your meter set up to measure voltage.
2. What does your meter read when you put the leads on a 12V car battery or a 1.5V battery?

Some batteries require to be switched on to get reading, mine do.

1. Can you post a photo of your meter set up to measure voltage.
2. What does your meter read when you put the leads on a 12V car battery or a 1.5V battery?

i get 12.75 on caravan battery , 1.5 on 1.5 battery, sorry struggling with posting photo

41.6 is good and charge may vary a little from 41.5 - 42v when fully charged.
Some switch off when green light appears others like me leave them to fully balance for another 1 -2 hrs after green light. The forum's troll will likely pipe up and as usual disagree.
A battery switch is usually a BMS switch, so needs not only turning on to use the bike but also for correct balance charging.
