Battery range decreases each charge

Hi. I have a Focus Adventura Impulse speed 1.0. the battery is nearly 9 years old this year. A few months ago my battery range was about 160 miles.

However the battery connector was damaged but was able to get it replaced, this meant opening up the battery. Since then the range drops every charge. From 160 miles to 120, then 70 and now 40 miles after a full charge on its dock. I normally don't charge it until only 20-ish miles in range left.

I know I shouldn't complain for a 9 year old battery but it was doing so well prior to the repair. I'm just worried the next time I charge it it might only have mere miles. Is the display maybe misreading the battery?

I'll take any explanation or suggestions. Not in the financial position to get a new bike however, sorry.
Thank you!

Simply opening and changing the discharge connector will not alter the battery range, thinking more logically one has to say it is the aging process and finally the cells have reached end of life.
One could think up theories as to why the range was greater before opening the battery for a simple repair but it is highly just coincidental .

The only way to find out what's going on is to open it up and measure individual cells, but that will probably only confirm that it's knackered. You might be able to restore some range by re-balancing it manually, but I doubt that it'll give you a long term solution.
