The Samsung debacle has highlighted the potential dangers of faulty batteries. But it must be said the battery has to be faulty or badly treated before it will cause any problems. Love the translation though!

I hope that we get a full report of this.
What sort of battery, why did it ignite?
I see that a guest was killed in a hotel fire from an ebike.
Looking around, I have lithium batteries in my bikes my ecigs, my marine VHF radio, my computers and who knows what else?

And another lithium battery fire today.

Passengers panicked when evacuating a train carriage at Dalston, London in the rush hour. They opened emergency doors and jumped out onto the track when their carriage filled with smoke as a passenger's drill battery caught fire and melted.

As there are more and more batteries around us there will be more and more battery fires, simple statistics. Boffins in white coats are working on making future ones safer.

New thread over on the endless sphere fourum "Dogman Dan's E bike burns his house"
The fire was caused by a 18650 pack bought from alibabba. Doggman has a lipo charging bunker in his back yard,I think its the one I posted higher up in this thread. But he was charging his 18650 pack on his bike.I think my next job is to build my own battery charging bunker.

Most people get lured into a false sense of security about charging, too used to hooking up things like their phones etc and letting it go.
We are charging up 42 or 65 individual cells in our pack, it just takes one to go faulty under charge and.. Kaboom! :(

A barbeque would make a good fireproof container, and with a lid would be weatherproof as well
