Hi all,

I'm new here, so be gentle with me if you are all bored with this topic.

I have searched long and hard for the right type of bag to contain 3 x 12aH SLA's on the rear rack of my kit built electric bike. I've tried all sorts, but nothing really worked. Until this week.

I was picking some stuff up at Screwfix, when I saw one of these:

Forge Steel Hard Bottom Tool Bag 12" | Screwfix.com

It fits perfectly, and gives me a nice removable battery system. Its really sturdy, and only a tenner. Also, it looks pretty innocuous on the back.

Here it is, with home made, 36v LED rear light attached. Half drunk bottle of wine (Hic!) to show scale.

BTW, I have no connection with Screwfix, just wanted to share the info as it took me such a long time to find the right thing.

Still say that if you want a bag made to your exact dimensions here is the best place to go.

BuggyBags Main Options Page

If you contact John and give him the dimensions etc you want he will make pretty much any bag to your exact requirements (well his misses will) and you wont get better for the money.

Was talking to him at the weekend and he told me he is not selling anywhere as many seats for the buggys you see on his site as they are so well built no one is wearing them out.

Just realised he mention he was getting into bags for bikes as well

They look great, and probably the ideal solution.
Bet they cost more than a tenner though......

That's interesting. What's his pricing like?

I have idea for bag on the back and front of my brompton. Some sort of quick release bag. I give him a drawing, tell him what material to use and he do it for a good price?

I have a crazy idea about having a double quick release bag on the front of my brompton:
- First quick release for the battery bag
- Second quick release for the shopping bag

Yes but they are not stupid prices especially when you consider its for a custom bag made to your precise specifications.

Not that obvious but if click on the page its takes you through to .

Bike Bag Main Options Page which gives far more info including prices.

As said they will pretty much make anything you want if you speak to them not just what you see on the website .

For anyone wondering I have nothing to do with this business other than as a satisfied customer and fact that i know owner personally due to his involvement in another of my hobbies (bet from his site you can guess what)

understood. But that's pricing for standard bags.

Was just wondering how he's quoting for custom bag. I mean if he's going to charge multi-hundred of pounds for a custom bag I'm obviously not going to start drawing anything.

My experince is that unless the bag is something radically different then the prices tend to remain about the same (After all a bag is a bag just different shapes and sizes).

If you look here http://www.buggybags.co.uk/WebSite.html you will that the buggy race seats are only 97.50 plus postage and I doubt you will come up with a bag that is harder to make and uses more material than one of those!!

I have even known when some one has come up with new idea for a bag/item which Jon thinks he can sell on to others that original idea person gets theirs discounted or even free!! . Just contact him tell him precisely what you want and he will give you a price if its to much you can just walk away.

Just ordered a bag from buggy bags - full length zip from front to back on the top/left and a small pocket at the top/front/right for small items (wallet, works pass, phone etc) for £48 + £4.50 p+p to the following dimensions:-

That's a bargain I think.
