Battery and LCD mismatch

Evening all,

I'm after a bit of advice regarding a minor problem I'm having with my volt pulse bike. I've had the bike about three months now and have done 650 miles.

The issue is that there seems to have developed a mismatch between the battery lights and the LCD power bars. When fully charged there are four lit LEDs on the battery and five bars on the LCD. Over the last couple of uses I've run the battery down to one led (approx 25%) but the LCD display is still showing three out of five bars (approx 60%). Is there any way to reset this so the battery and LCD displays show similar values? Is this a sign of a potential problem?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Not unless you know how to get to the settings. Try asking Volt themselves. they might be able to tell you how to do it, which will also give access to the speed restriction, then you can tell us how.

So I managed after some online research to access the volt LCD settings.

Each battery level bar on the LCD display is assigned a voltage as follows:-
1. 31.0
2. 34.1
3. 35.0
4. 38.0
5. 39.0

These values can be changed. Do they look ok as they are ?

Had a look at quite a few LCD instruction manuals and found that the volt unit firmware is very similar to a king meter KM5S. The king meter default passwords work on the volt unit.

Did you get access to the speed setting too?

Haven't had a good look around yet but as far as I can tell all settings are available. What would I be looking for as far as speed? I seem to recall a value of max speed set at 40 (possibly km/h). Although the bike wont go that fast currently. I did notice a current setting that was set at 15A !

It could be that the speed is locked in the controller's software.

Had another look and the only speed reference I can find is set at 40km/h which is the maximum value allowed. So you are probably correct about it being locked in the controller. The bike will actually do 18.5 mph before the power assistance drops off completely so slightly above the legal limit I believe.

Do you have any thoughts on the voltage values on the LCD as per the first post in this thread?

They look about right except the lowest one, which should be about 32.5 because your controller shuts off at about 31.0. There's very little charge between 32.5 and 31, so when that last one goes, you will need to be close to home.
