Hi. Could I ask for some advice? I currently own Forme curbar hte electric bike 21 gear, rear bafang motor, with battery joycube DT12. I was wondering if I could change 5he battery for some more common one, hopefully with bigger capacity. Also looking to carry 2nd battery for longer trips. Thank you626916269262693626946269562696

It's probably easy enough if you know how to wire stuff up and know how to work a hammer and screwdriver. First thing would be to see how the battery carrier is fixed to the frame. You might have to install some new rivnuts..

Thank you. I can do the wiring and the battery holder fits for example halfords carrera holders and as long as I can see, many other batteries online are fitted same way. Just that the controller is in the battery holder itself... Was wondering if enyone could advice some model that has it integrated this way too.. 6269862699

KT controllers that fit Hailong-type batteries are available from Topbikekit. It would probably be a good idea to go up to 48v if you're going to get a new battery. Greenlance and Yose both do good ones pretty cheap and fast. They do 20Ah 48v ones, which would give you all the range you want, so no need to carry a spare.

Alternatively, mount the controller in a controller box that you can also get from Topbikekit, or put it in a toolbag. I prefer the aluminium box controllers with block connectors because they're easier test if something doesn't work.

Thank you for help. While bike still has minor things to finish I followed advice and now it's 48v 20amp controller (limited to 15amp currently) and 48v 20ah battery. Also front replaced with single crank which makes things so much easier :) All the specs and source for parts avaliable in case someone rebuilds theirs. No real testing Don yet:(

He has a 20A controller. You can turn the current down in the settings, so he has his set to 15A, which he seems to be happy with. If you have the space for installation, it's better to use a higher powered controller at lower power than a lower powered one maxed out.

I been looking at the 17amp because they fit in the Array housing just a bit bigger than the 15Amp ones.
Or I would go for a 20amp too.

I have the 48V HL YOSE Battery , going to use one of the Bafang Somerby rims and motor KT LCD 4.
As I have all these bits already

With a left size PAS do you think I should go a bit higher with the magnets ?

I've fitted a few 17A controllers for that reason too. The 20A one comes in different sizes. I have one that's the same as the 17A one.

Do you have a model number for that pls ?
Nobody uses model numbers, so even if I had it, it wouldn't help you. You have to search Aliexpress, Ebay and Amazon, and know how to recognise a KT controller from the pictures because many of the listings don't even mention KT.

Yes a lot of them advertise KT but when you look closely they are not .

Topbike said they will shortly stock the 17A I have asked them if they can source 20A same dimensions as 17A let you know when they come back to me.

I just order a 17A on e bay when I start the build I will put on a new thread.
