Hi All,

Bought a Batteribike Dash last January. Was looking forward to a fitter life. Nice bike did a few miles. Thought I would get going again this summer. Problem the throttle started but then cut out. Control unit did the same.

Turns out that the motor is duff. Batribike were not prepared to replace it as out of warranty -just!!!

Shock: new motor will be £250 pounds!!!!
Has anyone else had such a problem or such poor support?

Motor had only lasted 36 miles! Pretty expensive for a £1000 bike.

Take home message seems to be if you want reliability or good support - DONT BUY A BATRIBIKE!

This sounds more like a battery problem to me.

just get a new 36v motor off ebay and get a bike shop to fit it on the wheel.

250 quid for one is a rip off!

id also get the batt tested to rule that out.

Battery looks fully charged on control unit. |Is that a reliable test?
No if one cell is weak when it's under load the voltage can drop and cut power to the whole system. It's a first test. Then how it behaves when under load is next test.

Ps it's better than buying a £2,000 bike and the motor failing just out of warrantee.

not really but if it has only done 36 miles and not used very much these batts dont tend to like that or being stored for very long time with out use.

as d8ve says if cells start dying then it effects the hole batt.

Two things first with digital volt meter check the battery out put, should register 41.2 - 42v if the battery is in good to v.good condition, Secondly check for a battery fuse to mak sure has not blown, fuse could be internal or external.

i suggest when its sorted you sell it and get rid off it as 250 for a new motor and 500 for a batt from them is taking the hiss.

the bike would cost more in bits as to just buy a new bike just dont make any sense other than you have no other option and just trying to rip you off tbh.

small claims court might be an option with such low mileage use ect.

Sounds very familiar - bike not used, BMS draining a cell in the battery to bellow 3 V. You may get away with a repair buy the company cited further up

Quite agree with AK. Also as out of warranty and if you are competent then an option is to open the battery and check each cell group with a DVM via the BMS and find out which group is low and manually charge it up to the other cell voltages, then it can be charged/balanced as normal to see if it holds up before outlaying more money. Batteries need to be used regularly or charged for 15-20 mins a month if not being used otherwise bike ownership gets very expensive.
