Has probably finally got the message that bike is illegal on UK roads and wants to get rid, as he makes no mention of illegality.....Don't you just love 50cycles!lol:p

Thanks for the tip-off Morgann. I have a friend who's looking for a decent bike, and as you say, that's something of a bargain.

I'm fairly new to this e-bike lark, and hadn't come across 50cycles before, so thanks for the heads-up, Eddieo. But £3995? Good grief!

It does seem to be a good price. Might have been tempted myself if I was in the market for a new bike. The 300 Watt motor would concern me a bit though, I think....maybe not.

I think he's shot himself in both feet; no viewing until after the sale?

Pig in a poke, perhaps.

As he says though, no need to buy at the point of sale viewing. Little risk since 50cycles are always willing to confirm the provenance of any Kalkhoff model.

As someone who has done some, (well lots actually,) buying on ebay, my gut feeling is that this is a genuine sale and I think he could have asked a bit more for it. Ok, it's illegal and the regular, legal Kalkhoffs are more than adequate so perhaps therein lies the reason for the very decent price.

The MPG will be rubbish compared to their legal bikes with that big battery and most discerning ebikers seem to want more than this machine could ever provide, judging by the kind of posts I have read on this forum.

I can well understand the vendor's stance with regard to the questions he's been asked but no-one is going to be forced to buy the bike should it turn out to be something other than the advert describes. I would have no hesitation in bidding for this bike but it's pointless. A regular Kalkhoff makes much more sense and there are no niggling concerns at the back of the mind if something goes wrong causing the authorities to look closely.

well it went for £1100 a fantastic deal for the risk takers among us.......But like Indalo whats the point of that risk when a quality 250 watt bike more then enough for most. My new Bosch bike gets me up hills I would never have dreamt possible and it is entirely legal.

Just worth remembering in Germany these bikes require numberplate, insurance etc...and are restricted to road use. if you are caught on one here you are riding and uninsured motor vehicle and if involved in an accident ......

Turns out this was a great buy. Well worth the 250 mile round trip to collect from Yorkshire.

The seller didn't want prior viewings of the bike simply because he is a busy hospital consultant. He was a very pleasant chap and had all the manuals and paperwork with the bike cleaned ready to ride.

I flagged this bike up to my friend who I've been trying to persuade to buy an electric bike for the past 4 years. It looked too good to pass up so he's finally taken the plunge and seems delighted with it.

My original three and a half year old Pro Connect S still stands up well against the newer model and I actually prefer the lower assist of the older bike as it copes with all hills fine and range is more important to me. The handlebar readout is better on the newer bike and gives more info but the Magura disk brakes are no better than my excellent rim Maguras.

Still, all in all, a super bargain and I'm looking forward to doing some island touring with my new pedelec buddy. Electric bikes are very rare here despite the hilly roads and picturesque quiet countryside.
