Hi

I am looking to buy a Bafang hub motor. I see others are interested in these as well.
Has any one a link to any technical data with detailed specifications that is available on the web.

Regards

Ian

Hi emtemt,

what kind of data you need?

BTW, about your tongxin question, i dont sell tongxin since long time, no mood to sell this motors. In real i dont sell further the standard motors but you can contact my friend in china, she can order near by everything in china, from Motortools, controller and motors, mailaddress by notification, if you want.

in future i only sell my own production motor in very limited version.

have a good day

Hi Frank

I was trying to establish if there are different models of the Bafang SWXU for different wheel sizes. They list 20 to 28 inch wheels on their web site. Is that the same motor for all sizes or are their different gears or windings for different size wheels? We are looking for maximum torque for hill climbing on a Bromptons for cyclists who have difficulty in pedalling.

If you can send me contact details of your friend in China it would be appreciated.

Regards

Ian

Hi Ian,

you can order the bafang SWXU from 16" speed(275rpm) up to 30" wheelsize (150rpm)
you can order with or without hall. This is for all Bafang motors possible to choose.
the difference for speed/torque is the copperwinding. The bafang SWXU has since a few weeks a new gearbox with 1mm higher diameter in the sunwheel because Bafang made a mistake in matching the teeth of the sprocket´s ;-)
I would suggest for people with low leg-power to use a 20" motor with 250rpm, this bring around 22km/h in a 16" wheel, Brompton is 16" , right? and have a bit more torque as the 16" Speed-motor
Important is that you must realise "if speed goes higher you loose torque and receive noise.
If the customer also is happy with 20km/h i would suggest a 24" motor with 220rpm

have a good day

Hi Frank

Many thanks, that is just what I needed to know. I really appreciate your help.

Do you refer to the wheels by RPM so when you order from Bafang you order SWXU 250RPM?

Are the Tongxin motors also all the same ratio with different windings for different RPM?

Regards

Ian

Chainging the amount of winding's in general changes the RPM of the the motor. Maximum power however never changes. Just where in the RPM the max is made as such.

All hub motors work on the same principle. Most companies you can specify the RPM or winding's or just a wheel size for a certain speed.

How many N/M of torque do these hub motors produce? (250w version)

Taken from Endless sphere...
Although torque figures look wrong. I think his times it by the internal gear ratio of 4.3.
Basically it would be more realistic if you divide the torque figure by 4.3.

So for a 36v 250w hub motor its about the 20 nm of torque

It depends at what speed those figures where taken, stall or half speed for instance. If you look at the ebikes.ca simulator for the Ezee motor and 20 amp controller taking 5mph as the lowest practical speed the torque is approx 45nm so I would think a Bafang with similar 36v 20amp controller will be producing similar at the same speed.
