The difference in the motors is that the SWXK5 has more clearance for disc calipers - it's just a casing change, internally they are the same.

I have no comments on the company though, sorry.

I have used
electric motor, hub motor, bldc motor for electric vehicle, electric bike convevsion online store for electric bicycle components-GreenBikeKit.com and had a very easy transaction with them but they only seem to do the 36v versions of those motors. They do however do the high rpm versions of the Cute motors.

Thanks for this, I'll email them and see if they can get me the 24v, I'm really determined to get the Bafang! Otherwise I may take a punt with the supplier I found.

Side exiting cable which will allow me to have the axle flats machined to 7.5mm. I can then directly swap front wheel between Bafang and Crystalyte.

I want to have a spare easily interchangeable wheel as I rely on my bike for commuting. I don't want another Crystalyte as it's expensive and not ideal due to spoke arrangement which is causing me grief.

Do you mean that you can't easily get the pump attached to pump the tyre up, due to lack of clearance between the valve and the motor, benjy_a.

Ummmm no, nothing to do with pumping up tyres :p

I want a whole spare wheel for when and if my crystalyte motor has a fault which is fairly likely at some point. I have nearly done 2000 miles on it already and I have spoke issues.

I think it's much more likely that the controller fail than the motor. I had for now 2 different controller that have failed and never for any of my motor.

Spokes can come loose as well as wires. But these are not issues related to either the controller or the motor.

Also, the closest equivalent to your G209 is the Ezee 20". You'll have a much less powerful motor with this 24V bafang.

Of course... I did start another thread about the problem. The issue is that the spokes keep loosening off. At the moment I just keep re-tensioning but I'm sure I can't do it forever. I don't know if the problem is a rubbish wheel build or an inherent problem with the design of the hub.

What I'd like to do is get a second Bafang wheel built rather than waiting to be let down at some point.

I have a spare controller and I want a spare wheel. The Bafang is a well know reliable motor and will be fine as an alternative / backup. The 24v the will simply be a faster wind than the 36v. The Ezee motor will no way fit Brompton forks!

If your spokes keep coming loose, thet're probably not being done up tight enough. With short spokes, the difference between tight and loose is not much when turning the key. Once you get them right, you could run round with a drop of thin superglue at the join of the spoke and nipple - should help keep them in place.

Thanks for this d8veh, I'll try and post a pic later of the spoke in the hub but I think the design of this motor exacerbates the problem. The spoke holes in the hub are very deep which means the spokes have to be bent almost straight to go through and I'm no wheel builder but it looks like a crappy design.

Also perhaps I'm struggling because I don't know just how tight to do them up without damaging something. There is a lot of torque from my setup.

What's the width of the Bafang? I believe it's 100mm as the Ezee isn't it?

I'm also thinking about having a front motor but I'm just afraid about the power of the small bafang.

I may go on a Mxus from Cellman at 3 kg for a little bit more power but still less than the Ezee.

I have an Ezee hub on my other bike and it looks huge compared to the Brompton forks, I'll do some measuring later and you know. This would need 10mm dropout which is no good for me anyway unless I buy a second set of forks which would be a right pain to swap over easily.

Does the Mxus have side exit cable as that's what I need for reasons already outlined?
