@ docotorprox, I have been really pleased with the 750w. Power is nice and progressive and the motor incredibly quiet. I have not found it overkill as the controller is programmed so that with the pas you only get 60 % of maximum power even on level 9, maximum power is only delivered using the thumb throttle although this can be changed using a cable and computer as another forum member has already done. Cheers Gaz.
Just out of interest, where did you buy your BBS02 and did you program the PAS levels yourself?
I'm not exactly sure what my PAS level 9 is programmed at, but I would guess it is more than 60%, as the display peaks at over 1000 watts at that level.
I reckon that I would get 40-50 miles with my 48v 11.6Ah battery on PAS 1, but guesstimate only up to 25 miles, varying from PAS 3 to PAS 9.
If I were building a commuter, then the BBS01 250w would be the way to go. There is no need for any more power and the range should be amazing, even with a modest sized battery.
X-country bikes benefit from the extra power, for the technical climbs and deep ruts and mud. The BBS02 750w pulls like a horse in these conditions, where the 250w would probably stall.
