True of course.After 35 odd miles tho my ass is finished...even with a comfy saddle.But thats why i added a 2nd batt to the bbs01,so i could go further and keep the fun factor of high assist.

Thats cool.the original 250w bbs01 controllers could be programmed to 18amps ,but people found the bbs01b ones couldnt. They threw an error,looks like thats been changed.
Yes the 250 is just the 350 with the controller set to fewer amps. The 350 shows max 20 amps on the model description details on the right , when you click read.
Have you got one of the colour displays that shows amps and watts.id like to know if upping 18 to 20 actually does anything.ive long since permanently fitted my watt meter to another bike as its display.
Just this minute ordered one of these.same as my bbshd one.Displays watts & amps as well as estimated remaining range based on the current PAS level. Worked out to £48.90 from the cheapest seller on aliexpress with a $3 promo an free postage.

If when u plug in the programming cable it says max 20 amps then yes. Even my very basic chinese rear hub controller runs at 19.5 amps (soldered shunt)without issue,according to the watt meter i fitted.

But I always fit a thicker copper cable from the battery to the xt90 and cut the excess of the motor 36v cable

Ahh a 02. i was thinking there for a minute maybe a 01 could be upgraded to a 25amp controller.the internal wiring of the 01 motor i imagine wouldnt take the higher amps if this power version always uses a 02 motor.The 500 watt was an 02 and was in the zobop the 350 watt is in a fattie built up for the snow [still waiting
interesting.i was only musing on a simple cheap upgrade of a higher amp controller, if such was possible.
Not had a controller to bits yet but if it is not potted it might be possible to upgrade the mosfets I have seen a you tube of mods on the bbshd to 60 amps but I do not think its worth the aggro more power the quick way is more volts I noticed the bbs02 500 watt now has a 48v option use your 52v batt and just buy another mount and put the 36v on ebay
You have to be very careful with any mods to a BBSxx controller. The potting is absolutely essential. Without it, if any water gets past the gasket, your motor will spontaneously catch fire even when it's switched off at the control panel.
Sorry to bring up an old thread but i was just wondering how you got on running at 20 amps ?,,any problems with heat etc ?

Hi,
No issues so far, just done a service on the bike, cleaning chain, adjusting gears, tightening bafang etc. Still works the same as day one.
