Bafang bbs01 won’t fit mountain bike

Hi, I’ve have a Bafang bbs01 kit I want to transfer to my new Cannondale mountain bike. Unfortunately,my chainstay is in the way & I don’t have enough threads showing to attach the lockring & mounting plate. I’ve got a lekkie bling ring. Would a spacer work? I’ve checked this thread out but still not sure

I’d rather use this motor and keep the costs down. If can’t use it, I do have another bike with bbshd so could buy another motor and use my 52v battery or maybe buy a rear hub like a Bafang bpm? Anybody have any ideas?

Does any thread show through the anti rotation bracke on the nut side [pic might help] I have made thinner brackets when needed have also used a grinder
Spacers for bb are available to pack out cheaply

You'd need the 100mm version of the BBS with spacers on both sides, but even then, you might have problems with your chain-line.

Thanks for the replies guys. I would rather reuse the existing motor rather than buy a brand-new BBSHD as these are the best part of £500. Would any of these ideas work? The second picture I stole from another website.

Yes that's what I did with the angle grinder but you have to check the clearance on the non drive pedal arm and the frame 1st

Yes have seen that kit but for a couple of mm I cut the bb and fit a thinner anti turn bracket. can you post a pic of the nut side and the bb does any thread stick out

You can also carefully profile, file/grind the gear casing where it touches the chainstay and gain another mm or 2, also as peter.c says, use a thinner bracket. These work well if you don't fancy making one. Then fit just the first nut and locktite it.

I don’t really fancy using the angle grinder on the frame as the bike is brand new. I have one of those California evoke brackets on my other bike, might buy me 1mm. I could grind a bit off the motor but still not sure if that is going to be enough. I’ve attached some more pics.u

Don't worry too much about the lock ring going on, if you can get the thread flush with the outside edge of the nut, you should be ok, with thread lock applied. You will need some longer M6 bolts and washers/spacers to pack out the bracket. Don't do the nut up too tight until you have some spacers in the other side or you will crack or distort the gear housing and/or damage the chainstay.

That's not a problem it is easily overcome with spacers and a California bracket and a few washers you can also get a spacer that moves the chain ring out on the motor this helps with chain alignment
I have noticed a lot of the newer 11/12 speed bikes have such a small front single chain wheel this is a problem we will see happening more often now 2.8/ 3 inch tyres seem the norm .
Hard to find a 27.5 plus with enough space the Kona unit in my profile pic was found by cardboard template and a visit to a large bike shop then look for a used one

Ok thanks guys. So in summary I need the following:

California Ebike stabiliser bar
Lekkie bling ring spacer 1 or 2 or more?
Longer M6 bolts into the motor
Loctite/thread lock

I’ve attached pics, tell me if this is your thinking?

Yes you need spacer on the bb chain wheel side take the existing stabiliser bracket and try for width
A spacer behind the lekkie possible you may need 2 as they are thin this also helps the chain line
Longer m6 I use oversize nuts if the gap is large and Loctite
For peace of mind I would get the stabiliser bar too
I made my last one used a 32mm hole saw from tool station and a piece of scrap metal

Did you check the chain-line? You're wasting your time and money if it's too far out.
