Bafang BB front chain ring.

I'm looking to get rid of the 7 speed derailleur on my bike and convert to a single speed chain, my new rear sprocket is designed for 1/2 x 1/8 chain and I notice that the 7 speed chain I'm using now doesn't fit.
I've done 2000 miles on the standard front chainring so I guess it would be wise to replace it but do I need one specific for a thicker chain?

You need a single speed chain, here's an example.

Thanks for replying but I'm trying to work out if a standard Bafang BB chain ring will work ok with a thicker (single speed) chain?

If a single speed chain is wider than say 8 speed, which I'm guessing it is because single speed has no width constraint, then surely it must fit in the simple sense of pitch and not being too narrow as 8 speed works fine with a standard Bafang chain ring.
