And the power/display turns off irregular intervals, 1 mile, 3 miles ?

Your speed sensor is not working. That’s why the display keeps shutting down.

check the gap between the spoke magnet and the sensor.
If there is an LED on the sensor, it should flash when the magnet passes in front of the sensor.

The control panel switches off after a few minutes if the bike doesn't move. When your speed sensor isn't working, it can't see any movement. If you have a C965 lcd, the default time is 5 minutes, but you can set it from 1 to 9 minutes. I'm not sure about the other LCDs. Check your manual because you might be able to switch it off.

WOW it was that simple, speed sensor removed, re fitted BETTER, thanks again everyone

I had to glue an extra magnet on mine because it wasn’t powerful enough to trigger the hall sensor.
