Back spray with rear mud guards

So I've tried two sets of rear mud guards and I still get really bad back spray when it rains!

Sounds silly but what am I doing wrong?

Too short.

Needs a spoiler to stop the up spray effect.

That type of mudguard is never going to stop it all. You would need full mudguards with flaps as fitted to road bikes.
Just don't ride through dog poop!

Any recommendations??

On my hard tail emtb.. I came across a mudguard set in tkmax. It needed cable ties and silicone to fit them but they did a better job than what you have. On my full sus emtb I used mudhuggers which were expensive but didn't stop the back spray. I think you will have to accept that mountain bikes throw crap up your back.

I have then on my road bike and are brilliant but no good for wide knobly tyres
