I have ordered a couple of things from Dealextreme.com as recommended by some on this forum. Unfortunately I have not received the items since Septemeber. The customer support is non existence, I sent them so many emails to no avail and no reply. Please note most items on their website say instock, infact they are not. I am still waiting for my lights to turn up and the nights are getting longer....

So be carefull with them, you may receive you lights in summer :D

I've had lots of treasure from Deal Extreme and sometimes it does take a while to arrive. Their customer support does leave a bit to be desired, but it does work...eventually. I don't think they are particularly hot at keeping their web site updated either, probably due to minimal staff to keep costs down.

Deal Extreme are a bargain basement outfit with very competitive pricing. You are not going to get a John Lewis level of customer care at the sort of prices Deal Extreme charge. Its like everything else, you get what you pay for. You just have to be patient, your treasure will arrive!

I have been using deal extreme for years now,
DealExtreme: Cool Gadgets at the Right Price - Site-Wide Free Shipping (Page 1)
they can sometimes take there time but everything I order arrived eventually
I pay by PayPal and they have always sent an email of the shipping date with tracking numbers sometimes after a couple of days sometimes weeks.
the longest I have waited is 5 weeks for my things to arrive at my door so be patient and dont knock a good company down to quickly.
Now is the time to put your order in for christmas 23/10

I don't think the issue is as much the delivery times, its ignoring customers emails and not updating the website correctly to hint items are "in stock" when they are not - both of which are inexcusable.

Too many companies (not just this one which I personally have never used) are not 100% honest when delays occur in the supply chain. A "good" company tells the truth - maybe it loses the sale on occasions but if people really want the items they are prepared to wait (as is proven by the pre-ordering of games consoles, software and other new gadgets).

if they put up a notice saying - "these items are imported / shipped from various foreign countries and can take 5-6 weeks before delivery" it would be acceptable IMO...

incidentally this is the customer service bit which suggests using the "support tickets" rather than email (of course my.motion may already have tried this and still been ignored). There's also a phone number to call (if you use VOIP or have one of the special phone tarrifs calling Hong Kong can be cheaper than using a mobile!)

Alex, Exactly, as a new customer to them the least they could do is say yes we are still waiting for the items, but to ignore my emails is inexcusable. I don't mind waiting 2 months for the items, but just tell me it will take two months.

I have raised so many tickets with them not a single reply from them :(

I don't think I will use them even anytime soon :(

I like DealExtreme, no fussing about with how much will something cost with the postage tacked on because postage is free, prices are great, I never expected my order to arrive in a couple of weeks of placing it because of the low prices.
I was contacted a couple of times to say they were waiting for stock so I swapped out one thing for another because it was in stock, my order arrived 3 weeks and 3.5 weeks in separate packages because not everything was available at the same time.

Patience is the key, if you want something yesterday, order from your own country.

British / European companies can be just as slack at responding to customer queries and often miss delivery dates or lie about them... :(

Deal Extreme do explain the following on their website...
DealExtremeWebsite said:
Your order goes through several steps before reaching your door. Here are those steps:

Step 1 (1-5 business days): Products are collected from our suppliers.
Step 2 (1-2 days): Order waits to get packaged.
Step 3 (1 day): Order is packaged and shipped* to carrier (e.g. Hong Kong Post, EMS, UPS etc).
Step 4 (3-14 days): Order is enroute via EMS or Hong Kong Post.

Estimated Delivery Time:
Airmail: 10 to 21 days.
EMS: 7 to 14 days
They make no secret of the fact that they collect the orders up for a few days so that they can then go and bulk-buy from local suppliers before shipping the goods out. When they say 'in-stock' they really mean that their suppliers claim that it's in-stock. Sometimes that doesn't work out as well as it should.

I've used DX a couple of times, and have returned faulty products and been given refunds without any trouble. Their ticketing system worked well for me when I used it, but that was last year - maybe they've cut back on their helpdesk during the crunch.
