I am amused by some of the 'swash buckling rebel without a cause' attitudes by some members of the forum....I suspect the average age is probably 55,imagine what this forum would be like if it was popular with 15 year olds on 40mph e-bikes!!!
I have this image of some 60 year old guy hurtling downhill at 30mph,completely out of control and some teenager on a vanilla bike shouting at him.....'grandad,act your age'!!!!

You know the score Dave, growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. Nowadays though, when careering down that hill at 40mph, I don't shout "yeehaa" I tend to say my prayers.

Jim 56 years and 1 month.

I'm coming up 61. I always go for the maximum down steep hills. The only time I pedal really hard is at the start of a hill to get the absolute maximum possible.

Erm, hate to say this but try pitching the age about 17 years higher - there's a lovely steep hill near where we live - great overtaking the Lycras going up and scaring the pensioners going down ... I'll grow up when my age = my IQ (not so far to go now!).

55? Bleedin' youngsters. I'm not of bus pass age yet, but not far off. Still crack on whenever I can, though.
Feck age - it's a state of mind.

Growing old disgracefully thats the way to do it! you can be curmudgeonly as you like ,folk accept it as the norm.

I think those who grew up in the the 1960s, were influenced by the times, rebellion, strikes, and anti-war protest that dominated the times, sadly that attitude to question ones Government by direct action, seems to have be lost now days.

Music to my ears , those were the days. " Thatcher, Thatcher baby's milk snatcher."

I used to want to change the world now I settle for riding a e-bike at 17mph how times change.

the difference is that at 21 i'd have been hurtling down the hill on the bike, now the bike is heading down on its own while i bounce homer simpson like off every bump on the way down ;)

Nothing wrong in being young at heart....... even if these days you have to never pass up the chance to take a leak, never trust a fart and never take a hard on for granted.

Same as d8veh, max downhill with as much boost from the pedals as possible to kick off the speed and again at the start of any following uphill, so you'll probably still be doing it at 77 Dave!

I loved going up big hills ,coming down the other side even better! nothing like hurtling into a bend ,maximum handfull off brakes then getting a slingshot out, once beat a bus into town by a good 10 mins when crossing the Appenines in Italy, those were the days...!

I have often wondered, at 34 am i the youngest on this site? :p
We do have at least one member who was, and I still think is, in his twenties, but 80% of the membership is in the second half of life at over forty.
