My comment was intended to alert the site admin or didn't that seem obvious?

the file is clean.
You can submit the link to online URL scanners in cases like this for peace of mind.
If you want to be scared, take a look at the list of CVEs (common vulnerabilities and exposures) - thousands of places where your computer may be hacked:

When I clicked on the thread http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/help-wiring-brompton-tongxin-controller.23759/#post-298977
The warning said
URL http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/js/xenforo/personal_details_editor.js?_v=cc05f327|{gzip}

Infection Other:Malware-gen [Trj]
Is this something that requires action? or can it be ignored?
Ignore it, Avast like some other anti-virus software uses heuristics as well as actual data lists of viruses. That's a system by which anything that looks like it might be a virus is reported as suspect. This can create many false alarms.

In Avast I believe you can set the sensitivity level of the heuristic detection, you should find a setting in it's software to do that. Turn it down a bit.

As I was typing my reply to a thread just a few moments ago, a large red box came up on the screen, with some sort of warning. I'm afraid I didn't make a note, but it's never happened before, and I'm using Linux.
