Argos E-Move - Anyone have any experience with these bikes?

Hi, looking at getting an e-bike to do around 7 mile round trip through city centre (relatively flat but can feel the slight hills on a normal bike). Was looking into converting but at the price it would cost to convert I could get something like this. Haven’t seen many online reviews other than on the Argos website so just wondering if people have experience with these bikes and if they’re worth it (found a brand new one on FB marketplace for £300).

TIA

I bought two E-Moves from Argos. One was an Emove with gears and a downtube battery. It's be brilliant - no issues at all, and very nice to ride. It was a bargain at £340. The other is a 20" folding one. It's brakes were poorly set up, and the battery switch failed after a few presses, but I got it half price at £235, so I'm not complaining.

The bike you linked to has no gears and a battery inside the frame tube. They don't say the capacity of the battery, but at only 1.5kg, it won't have a lot of capacity. Without looking at the battery, I can't be sure, but there might be a problem to get a replacement when the time comes, so I'd pay the extra £75 for this one, which has a standard battery with 33% more capacity and gears:

The one you linked might be OK if you don't weigh much. It's pretty light, so with the help of the motor, you wouldn't need gears.

Nice! A fully kitted out bright yellow Momentum Transend came up for sale not far from me for a similar price, and I do have a non-electric bike with rigid forks, but my aching wrists prefer a bit of suspension at the front, even if it's only of the 'pogo stick' variety, so someone else snapped it up while I was dithering. Made by Giant.

The 'built in' look of many e-bikes will frequently bite the buyers in the wallet when it comes to battery replacement when only one style will fit and is either no longer available or costs 2,3x or more than a comparative battery using top quality cells.

im Manchester based, wasn’t sure where to look for second hand bikes in all honesty, as I’m I’d like some form of support if something went wrong, these seem like good options

im also considering this Carrera from halford second hand…

or possibly a hitway?

Basically not a huge fan of the way the bulky batteries look on the frame, which is picky, I know!

Currently borrowing an Emu classic crossbar through a work scheme which I’m liking so far.

I'd keep away from Halfords bikes because the necessary spares are difficult to get. One or two forum members have had trouble with sorting out their Impels. I always recommend to get bikes with standard Chinese parts if you just want a bike to ride around on. In-frame batteries might look neat, but they can be very difficult to get hold of when you need a replacement. When you have a battery mounted on the downtube, you can always change the holder along with the battery when fashions change. None of these things matter until you need a new battery, which will be a certainty. It's just a matter of time.

A recent member of the Forum bought this

I had a quick look on Facebook marketplace around Manchester, nothing that stood out. I would be tempted by that secondhand Woosh faro that I linked to earlier but check the battey
