Are these battery cells suitable for use with my Bafang BBSHD?

That's quite a short commute - why make such a big battery?
The reason I'm making such a big battery is because I sometimes have to make short trips as part of my work to trade counters etc, which are all within five miles of my place of work, and I wanted the option to do that and still be able to get home at the end of the day. I plan to use pedal assist not just throttle. I do have the option to charge the battery at work but I was hearing a lot about 'range anxiety' when I first became interested in e-bikes a couple of years ago so I just didn't want to be caught short bearing in mind I had no real idea how far my now soon-to-be-finished project could potentially go. I was seeing various theoretical figures of how far my e-bike could go depending on various factors so thought it might be a good idea to try and get a battery pack bigger than what I actually needed and maybe give myself some headroom without possibly having to charge the battery during the day.
On top of that there is a fairly steep hill about a quarter of a mile long on the way to work and I wanted a battery that would deliver the power I needed in combination with a motor that wouldn't over-heat on the way up which is the reason why I went for the BBSHD. I am more interested in range rather than speed even though a few extra MPH on top of what I would get on a conventional bike would be appreciated.

I confess to knowing little about ebike batteries, but am very interested in following your project - I may someday attempt a massive battery build.

Would it make sense for power tool batteries to not have as many dischage cycles, before rapid reduction of capacity, compared to cells intended for ebike use? Might there be some penalty for low cost chemistry and brand?

I've Googled and can't find any information, and I'm usually a good Googler.
I see what you're saying, good point. There are so many factors for me to consider...

Have a look at the moli p28a's cheaper then the sony and out performs vtc5a.
The original moli p26a was equal to the vtc5a and even out did it near the end of the discharge . P26a even though it has been only 5 years or so since it's introduction has now been replaced by the 28a.

M ooch n ECF forum now rates the moli's as a top to go for cell and one of the best cells to recommend. Every one has their fav's whether branded well known or good china branded cells.
Sinowatt, eve , lishen and others all have pretty good reveiws for there price and quality.
Sounds promising. Is there somewhere reputable where I could obtain these P28a cells? I've just seen these cells online and the price varies wildly from different suppliers.

My BBS01B has been hauling myself (I've lost a lot of weight, no longer heavy) plus a heavy trailer up steep hills all summer with 52T>11T gearing on a small folding bike. I've had no issues with overheating - the motor barely gets warm. Solving your hill problem with a BBSHD, seems like using a sledgehammer to drive in a nail. It's true small batteries can cause issues with battery voltage sagging on hills, but that problem isn't significant enough in use, to stop my cheap mass market 19.2ah battery with LG MH1 cells, powering the bike up any of the hills I've encountered thus far - I chose larger than I needed because in a couple more years when battery capacity inevitably reduces, I'll still have enough for all of my normal journeys.

Fogstar wholesale is the #1 uk supplier or nkon in holland.
Fogstar only use direct sales afaik via the brand maker.

Never trust auction sites for buying cells or ones that seem very cheap other then an authentic known seller.

I frequently end up at Trustpilot when checking out suppliers, and although it can be gamed, doing so isn't easy. Fogstar has a very good Trustpilot score (305 reviews):

I see that Fogstar seem to be coming up time and again as a reputable supplier. I don't want to be spending any money except on genuine cells from reputable suppliers. Fogstar appear to be the way to go, among others...

If spending over £70 then use the Fogstar wholesale site and not the reatil site, as the former is way cheaper for bulk options.
