After my abortive ebike sale I now find myself in a dilema of how
to proceed. (See my post of 23 April 2018, if you are bored)
I have had trouble locating a 36v 500w controller (CPU) and even
complete 36v/500w kits, and I'm wondering if these higher power
motors are being phased out for 36v? Many 48v units available at very low cost.
So to my dilema, I have a fried display unit and thumb throttle
and a motor which looks unfried, but untested.
I have an identical second bike,(hense the previous abortive
sale),but I am reluctant (after long deliberation with
WheeliePete) to strip this motor and use it's motor etc, to test
a CPU from BMS Battery at a cost of approx £140, because of my
lack of competence with electronics,
The safe alternative is to buy a complete kit but I cannot find a
36v 500w kit in UK or China.
An alternative is to upgrade to 48v but that will involve a new
set of LiPo batteries.(I believe this would be 4 sets of 4S
batteries, and I use 5S for my 36v motor). May be I could modify the 5S's
This may be a better long term investment, if my suspicions about 36v/high power gear is phased out.
Any thoughts?
