Agree, i've not had much look with electronic shifting in the past. When the shifting went you were pretty much stuck, vs mechanical you can usually do something to get by.

Call me stingy .. but no way would I pay 350 - 400 dollars just to not have to push a small thumb lever. Even if I won the lottery .. which I don't suppose I will .. 'cause I don't do it
