My aluminium frame broke recently and I don't fancy doing a conversion on another bike after that. ( I think it was a poorly chosen donor bike that caused this)

Up for sale:

1) Juice bike conversion kit, 18 months old, 700c wheel on hub (hub only in this new wheel 1 month after a professional rebuild). Pedal sensor not working, but I have another sensor ready to replace it - the wiring just needs checking. Range is still good does 20 miles with 120kg of load on bike. Comes with 2 chargers.

2) Giant Suede ( not working) and in bits. I paid £100 on ebay for this just before Christmas bit haven't had enough time to look at it properly. Apparently the pedal sensor is not working, I would agree with this diagnosis. Chain seems bent, but can add a length of chan from bike that has just broken if thus helps.

3) brand new ku65 controller ( bought as a back up controller mchasnism fforr the suede in case I couldn't get it working easily.

4) 3off DC - DC converter input 4.5 - 55v , output 1.2 - 30v , 15W
£12each (selling at cost) I did a bulk buy from China to make the shipping cost effective. (Good for running lights off your battery)

All items near Royston (Cambridge/Stevenage), can ship but that will obviously cost more.

Hoping to sell 2&3 together.

James

Also have 2 Macalister 36v 4ah battery packs (unused) from B&Q if anyone interested, I can still probably use them, but as I'm going for a bosch system, they would just be portable lamp batteries now!
(See threads on the use of these if you are interested).
At least 1 has a cash receipt so still has a warranty!

Let me know if you are happy to separate

Many thanks

The battery packs were £34 each and I'd prefer not to lose any money on them, they come as boxed, I haven't managed to get around to making a bike side connector yet. I do have a sheet of 5mm plastic, some silicone wire and some Anderson power pole connector s that I bought to do that with I think I spent another £20 on bits for the female bike side connector but. Just haven't had time.
If you wanted those as well I'd be happy to sell the 'kit'!

Let's give it a week or 2 - I'm happy to sell the hub motor (in a 26 inch wheel) from the suede instead of the whole bike as this is where most of the value lies (that and a specifically designed frame)

Sorry to hear your frame snapped. Just out of interest, do you think the extra weight of the kit made it snap? I recently did a conversion and had two bike to choose from. A Kona Roast which was made for jumping and looking around, and a Gary Fisher Big Sure which is a very lightweight cross country bike. I choose the Kona because it is much stronger but always in the back of my mind there's the thought that I could save 5kg if I switched to the Gary Fisher.

I think it was a combination of many things:
- My weight
- The weight of my normally full panniers
- the steel rigid forks with Aluminium frame
- the high pressure Marathon Plus tyres I was use which didn't absorb much vibration
- The VERY poor state of the roads in Hertfordshire
- The speeds that I would do over speed bumps/bumpy roads (because I had a suspension seatpost.
- The quality of the brazed joint in the first place (and the heat treatment near it to reduce stresses)
- The huge amount of weight over the rear wheel
- The crash I had into a raised verge a few months earlier
- The masses of stuff I mount on my handle bars - It has been commented that my bike looks like something out of James Bond!

It's very rare for any frame to break. The weight of a kit is nothing compared with the weight of a person, so nothing to worry about there. The only thing to keep clear of is carbon fibre frames. They're not designed for the twisting forces of the motor.

Yup - as Dave has pointed out in another thread this is only the 3rd bike frame that he's heard of breaking in 5 years on the forum Ricki!
Some people just have an ability to break stuff, I'm one of them!

Thanks James
The battery price is fair but was an enquiry for a mate looking for a solution as they don't want to build bike side connector themselves

And of. Course re ku65 , just pm me as and when

And indeed, if !
