Just come back from Vegas where there was a lot of talk on the ST2 with many ST1's on the roads , and yes I was very tempted to get one. However as there are no dealers in the Uk and it being a very expensive bike decided against it.
I have now purchased a 2015 BH nitro cross 500wt motor 48 volt battery picking up next couple of days from local BH dealer £2666 .
Looks similar to the Stromer hidden battery etc but a lot less expensive with a number of dealers in uk.

abarth, I agree that you made the right choice, buying a bike this expensive without decent dealer support just isn't smart....

My dealer is located at a sidestep of only 200 meters from my daily commutingpath, I'm very satisfied with this, don't know (or care...:) ) if he is too....

Today my brand new ST2 despite it's anti-leak tyres suffered a flat one, my first flat in 8 years, 4 bikes and 90000 km's. Hope this isn't a bad omen.... :)

Hi guys,

Bought brand new ST2 3 weeks ago in Belgium. Same issue as Joop with poor gps quality! Also got a brand new display the first week. The second week was worse, the ST2 showed batterie error on the screen!! Motor stopped working and to go to bike shop. Now 1 week later the motor and batterie are replaced by a new one. At this moment they are testing the bike. Dream bike to ride but has a couple start up diseases. Hope i can post later this week that all problems are solved :) greetz

Any updates on the stromer st2 problems ? I'm seriously thinking about buying one, but if the bike isn't dependable/trustworthy I'm obviously not buying it.
I searched for the facebookgroup mentioned above.. but no luck ! Did stromer take it down ? :)

Hope to hear from you guys. Thx !

I understand that Stromer have recently appointed Tomos GB as their UK distributor. Hope that helps.

I saw a Kudos reply to this thread and thought you might be doing it.

Presumably you were asked, but declined.

I had a long talk with the UK Stromer guys at the bike show in London, which is when I found out that the powerful one has type approval, so it can be ridden legally.

I had a go on it, and naturally it went pretty fast on the flat test track.

That's correct that they are also responsible for Tomos.

I've always liked the look of the Stromer.

But, rather like the Bosch Nyon system, there's been too much internet chatter about unreliability for me to consider buying one.

I looked at the Stromer but felt that it was expensive because of the techie add ons, which for me was a negative....more to go wrong, more for customers to struggle with.
I have not long been back from Switzerland, some of the swiss seem to have so much money they have lost any sense of value but here in the UK we look for bargains. A Stromer at £4k would have been a rare sale even in London, the combination of Kudos and KTM seemed to offer a range to satisfy most customers wishes,at fair prices.
I wish Tomos GB good luck.
D8veh mentioned that the 500 watt model had type approval but as a moped not a bicycle....to be legal on the road, you can avoid SVA,but it's still necessary to register/tax/insure/helmet as a moped.

I like the look of the stroma ST2 but I find it hard to justify over my ATB shima that cost me £1800 and is capable of 28mph. Has not the same range though just scraping 40 an a bit miles out of it on the 17amp hour battery.
I suspect the stromer is better made. The other thing is you are well on the way to a stealth bomber. I will still be putting some thought into them though.
Why don't they put a throttle on like mine? has, admittedly it was a one off built for a show I believe but it's brill even though I use it sparingly.
Woa is me why can't I be satisfied?

Hi,
Thinking of buying arguably the best e-bike out there, the recently released swiss made Stromer ST2. Now i'm aware it has a 500w motor and can do 45km/hr (28mph)....cough cough cough :) But the main selling point for me is that it can do up to 150km on a battery charge, i have no intention of doing > 15mph on public highways, as i don't want to risk getting a £4.5k bike confiscated. Not available in UK so thinking of getting one from Germany for £4500 delivered....3 month waiting list though. Not cheap i know, but it seems to get raving reviews on the German Stromer forums and many people say its worth it considering the features eg smartphone controlled, gps built-in, up to 150km range etc. Apparently one guy has had his ST2 stolen twice but recovered each time due to the GPS.

Anyway just wondering has anyone bought one in UK, if so are you happy with it? Are there any Stromer dealers in UK where you can take it to to get it serviced etc?
Hi there,
I have a ST2, I imported it from Germany where I have a second home.
BUY ONE!! they are the finest e bike available and so far has been totally reliable. Servicing can be performed by any experienced bike mechanic, should you need a electrical repair or replacement, this will prove more awkward but I am sure Stromer support will assist.Every person who has ridden mine wants one!
