had a converted Schwinn bike for a couple of years but the battery has died, as advised by an auto electrician. So I have gone and got myself a new Oxygen eBike.

What should I do with the battery for the Schwinn, it is a Rosh LiOn, should I give up or is there someone out there who knows out to do a refurb?

A Re-cell is possible, but not usually worth doing unless it's the only option. It's usually easier to fit a different/new battery.

It may be possible to fix the existing battery, but it depends what's wrong with it. I have repaired a few with broken joints and balance problems.

To advise further we would need some pictures, and to know what voltage it gives fully charged.

The auto electrician has renewed wiring loom and says the battery has been messed with previously.... Possibly best bet may be to replace if anyone can suggest a decent option.

It is a 48V battery?

Loved the sticker with ROSH instead of RoHS

Being totally new to this game I had no idea that the battery was an odd'un! Anyway I've researched 48V batteries and can pick one up for £300.... Are they pretty universal, if so it might be worth trying, what do you think?

Currently busy swapping lights etc from Schwinn to Oxygen, then when the rain stops....

That was a question sorry. The charger seems to be for a 48V battery. Can you test the voltage from the battery? Is the voltage marked on the motor?

Bit stupid at this end.... Don't know how to test voltage. I was told it was 48V

It may be possible to get the cells replaced and at the same time upgrade the battery to a better spec the person to speak to and get a quote is Jimmy at Insat intl they are on Ebay or try 020 8361 1790. Several on here have used his services and can't praise him enough, apparently his battery tech knowhow is the bees knees.

You will need a cheap multimeter.

Something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231907966036

Then you need to charge the battery up, measure voltage and report result here.

Decided to get shut... Put it on eBay for £60, hopefully someone who knows what they are doing may be interested

Well, thanks for giving us all the opportunity to help you. It's good of you to give up your time for us in this way.

FFS, how hard is it to say the occasional 'thanks' when people have been trying to help you?

Sorry if I upset anyone, I am grateful for the advice. I am new to this whole forum lark as well. Your advice was sound, I am jus a little worried about forking out for the new battery and the damn thing still letting me down - hence the decision to get shut of it.

That's cool, well done on making good.
