Hello all at Pedelecs.

I am starting to get back into biking hoping that a few volts can replace a few grunts and groans :)

Just picked up a neglected Carrera Crossfire 1 which I intend to convert at a later date, after sorting out (hopefully) the gears with a little help from a friend, and getting it running smoothly.

I have been browsing here whilst waiting for authorisation to post, and the contributions from both users and dealers seem very informative and helpful, and which have already given me a good start in researching ebikes and conversions.

Dear Gavin
Well worth getting some assistance, it does make the commute much more pleasant.

What are you thinking of adding to your bike?

regards

Hello Paul, thanks for the reply. I will not be using the bike for commuting, just for leisure, so not in a big rush to convert it. At present, (and with the help of YouTube), I am learning how to service, recognise, and replace different parts on the standard bike, so that will help a lot if I do get around to electrifying it. The Carrera Crossfire does seem very easy to ride, compared to what I have ridden in the past, so that has also reduced the urgency to convert it. I probably won't be riding much this winter, so I will reconsider my options next spring when I am planning a 36 mile round trip, and hopefully by then, the cost of the conversion kits will have come down to a more acceptable level for leisure riding, but at the moment, £450 - £500 seems a lot to pay for what will be limited use.
