Thanks for the replies :)

To answer D8ve's questions: -

How do you cycle - On a bike :D I currently have a Specialised road bike, Voodoo Bantu hardtail MTB for wet weather & a Marin 29er hybrid that's been out of use for a couple of years thanks to a knackered rear rim (now sorted)

Where do you cycle. I live in Hove & commute a total of 10km a day all year round but it's quite hilly.

Do you ware Lycra ? Not on my commute

Are you happy building? Yup, very much so. I can do pretty much any maintenance on a bike.

Why build? I suppose a combination of using a bike I have, getting more for my money (I hope) & not having another bike for the Mrs to complain about.

What budget? Ideally £1k but open to suggestions if that's going to be unrealistic.

And do you need simple or complete replies? I'm easy, simple is OK as long as I have enough info to go on.

If it's the hard tail that you want to convert, then you don't need to spend £1k. £650 will get you a kit with a 20ah battery from BMSbattery in China.

Or you could look at a kit from ezee or whoosh in the UK, or 8fun.

You need to work out things like expected top speed, legality, control system type, motor type/position, range, looks, comfort etc. There are a lot of options.

There's plenty of help available on here though!

I'm not keen on buying from China due to duty & delivery time.

I've been looking at the Dillenger kits. I'll have a search on here to see what people think.

Just another of our hobbies , also I have been a guide at West Blatchington Windmill until last year just taking a couple of years out from climbing ladders . Always too much to do and so little time !!
I'm often in Stadium motors near the grenadier .
