My headphones had a battery like that. It would last about 5 hours I now get a lot longer.
That's brilliant! All of my ageing lithium/lipo batteried devices will progressively get 18650 and 14500s hot glued on. I've ordered USB powered charging modules and holders, but the cells I have may be too old by now, as I haven't charged them for a year or five.

Worryingly, this tiny battery got very hot so I removed it. Now I'm even more worried because I've lost it.

Looking for a replacement, might use an external battery of some sort if I can't find one. This isn't my usual ebike battery. Since joining this forum I've become more likely to attempt repair of broken items, rather than throw them away.

prior to ebike exposure i would start with hobbyking for anything to do with pouch batteries, not the cheapest but generally known for good quality batteries/equipment afaik?

They're out of stock for this - I did find pouches of a similar size, voltage and capacity on ebay but running time of 20 minutes is too short. I doubt the original ever provided 100mAh. Even before tearing out cells from my dead laptop batteries, I have other old 18650s and 14500s, which should in theory be fine for low drain devices? Some old cells might require a wake up low voltage charge perhaps.

Interesting it is even getting mentioned on seller's sites.
The Argos page https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9543104 saneagle referenced on another thread says
  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT CHARGING: ENSURE YOUR VEHICLE IS COOL BEFORE CHARGING AND USE THE MANUFACTURER'S CHARGER ONLY. UNPLUG THE CHARGER WHEN IT HAS FINISHED CHARGING. DO NOT STORE OR CHARGE THE VEHICLE IN A POSITION WHERE IT IS BLOCKING AN ESCAPE ROUTE, IF POSSIBLE IT SHOULD BE STORED IN A SHED OR GARAGE. NEVER LEAVE THE BATTERY CHARGING UNATTENDED OR WHEN OUT OR ASLEEP. .
I think thats just a standard clause they need to add. Maybe updated legislation.
Like on the Ejuice i get for my vape. On it it states 'Toxic if swallowed, and Fatal if in contact with the skin'.

In truth it say this because nicotine is an an addictive drug, and while it is strongly recommended you dont drink the stuff, simply getting it on your fingers or a bit on your tongue is going to do no harm whatsoever. Its worse case scenario, the toxic effect if you drank a pint of it, or you had a bath in the stuff.

You can charge your £5k bike anywhere, because the whole system of charging from the battery to the charger to the wiring has gone through stringent safety procedures, to enable manufacturers to sell ebikes in shops. The same warnings you'll find on a 200 quid cordless drill. Is the drill unit going to burst into flames ? no it isn't.

Car maintenance manuals used to tell you how to fix any part of your car, now they tell you not to drink the contents of the battery

Have you noticed that NO, NO news/papers ever say if they had smoke alarms fitted
Looking at ebike battery fires on Youtube, by the time smoke alarms go off it's too late. The AliExpress sale is a good one, so I ordered this STC-1000 110-220v...

...to set off this...

...when my battery unreasonably hits 60 °C , or some other unreasonable as-yet undecided upon temperature for a charging ebike battery. A mad loud continuous honk should buy me time to sprint over and throw my formerly expensive battery out of the window, in it's metal box on a shovel, where it'll be charging.

And don't forget not to ride your bike anywhere near electric cars in case your battery sets light to one, then there really could be a chain reaction that burns down the town.
Once my home is safe, it'll start that chain reaction. Something to look forward to in this weather.

True. They just want to put people off people buying ebikes with headlines like 60% of all ebike fires are caused by ready-made ebikes from shops.
60% of all ebike fires are caused by the likes of Bosch and Shimano? Best avoid those then!

@guerney check out the stc1000+ firmware alternatives on github, a chap called Luc Small has a git hub library for the arduino to decode the fine offset protocol if you want to pull off the data readings and states in real time for i dunno mqtt broadcast via an esp8266 perhaps?
That's a great idea! It could trigger automatic forum posts with live photos of the explodey chain reaction of rows of EVs outside, a call to the fire brigade, activate steel window and door shutters to keep out rioters, turn on pumps to water cannons, make a nice relaxing cup of tea, switch on soothing music etc.

Might be an idea to keep a bag of marshmallows in the shed, and possibly a few bottles of beer. Might as well get comfy while you enjoy the flames.

This 12V fridge looks just the job. 45W = 3.75A is well within the capability of my 36V 19.2Ah ebike battery. 22A BMS, so I can run 5 of these fridges for a continuous chilled beer supply (for a bit), and never get any gardening done. Something to look forward to in the summer...

The converter has already arrived, but I don't like confirming delivery because:

1. It's tracked, so they already know it's been delivered somewhere.

2. This popup:

55628

They insist that you must confirm delivery before requesting a refund, but if you agree you've received the full order in good condition, how can you request a refund when some of the order is missing or something is faulty etc? Bloody AliExpress.
