Hi all,

after the Dahon jack D7 conversion I finally try to start another build for my brompton.

It seems everyone has their preferences for the motor.

For me, I will get it done as simple as possible.

I probably goes for Dave's option for Q100 motor kit

This is the kit I am after
Q100 36V250W-350W Front E-Bike Kit with LED Meter - BMSBATTERY

Does anyone know what is the different between their BMS 16 rim and the brompton rim?

I probably wont stretch the original fork and do you know where I can get a spare fork?

Is it anything I need to be carefully when fitting the pedelecs sensor?

I know there is plenty of brompton builds here but I want to just to make sure I start it right.

Thanks.
Pat

Most of those 16" Chinese rims supplied with motors laced in them are smaller 305s not the larger Brompton 349s. You will probably have to lace it yourself/get it laced. You will also need a 36h rim as Bromptons are only 28h which probably means using a double walled Sun CR18 rim which are a pain to get tires onto.

With all Brompton conversions the real struggle is to maintain/not foul the fold.

New forks here. If they are steel forks just do it anyway. You will also need to open/file out the dropouts to 10mm for the motor shaft flats. The Brompton ones are about 7-8mm if I recall. You may also need washers on both side to space the motor so its case does not foul the fork insides.

That motor is 100mm wide so you are going to have to really stretch those forks. Also note you want the higher RPM motor or the normal RPM (24v) one and run it at 36v.

Loads of detail on here about it all.

Regards

Jerry

Thanks Jerry.

By the way, do you still recommend Tongxin motor? Is it pedelecs only? Can I add a throttle to it?

For speed wise, I still want to maintain 16mph all the time during the ride. Ideally, it can achieve 15mph with throttle only.
