I think it's a truck wiper motor. It's the attention to detail that fascinates me with this one. It seems so well thought out. It could only have been built by a true engineer. It even has a meter of some sort on the stem. I wonder what it shows.

Don't be so negative. What's wrong with tucking your truser into your sock. I have to do that on my bike anyway.

Each time I look at it, I see some other novel feature. I'm pretty sure that it has a free-wheeling crank and maybe even a pedal sensor.

Looks like a home made speed sensor on the front wheel wired to a speedo on the handle bars.
I can see where your coming from about the pedal sensor but I don't think it is and its on the wrong side of the chain ring to pick up a sensor, it more like a small spider with pins to fix the chain ring to.

At first I thought those circles were the fixings, but if you look carefully, they don't line up with the chainwheel. They appear to be in two blocks of four or a four and a three. You can see gaps in the pattern bottom left and on the right side just above the crank.

Possible if it is wonder if it worked or not ?
Who ever built that bike you have to give them 10/10 as it could easily be 20 years old.

well, at the very least we deserve 10/10 for finding the beauty in a recycled truck wiper motor 70's folding bike combo and respecting how difficutl it must have been to marry up all of tyhat without instructions or even a forum of any sort. as a complete aside - underneath that ebay listing is a link to a £35 hercules saxonette (what a name!) with (after i became a bit obsessed i found) a double reduction gearbox, unfortunately a geared motor, but circa 1995 one of teh earliest im sure nicad batteries and a wopping 30A at 24V

Well for £50 someone got a vintage folding pedelec almost fit for a museum.
Certainly hope they refurb it and get it rideable again, may be someone on here bid for it ?
