Anyone know where I can buy in the UK, a tool suitable to crimp PowerPole connectors?

Or is there a way to do it without a special tool?

Soldering is always better if you can manage it, handles the amps better.

I used to solder them but I now use a tool similar to this.

Note that it needs to be for non-insulated terminals - most of the ones in the shops only do insulated.
The one I have, from here, does both.

Probably not as good as the proper tool but it’s cheap & I find it does the job. The proper tools are also available from Torberry but they're rather expensive & I can't justify the cost for the number I do.

Ahh normal crimp connectors! yes use a set of decent crimping pliers, had my snap-on ones for over 35 years now. Sometimes better to double crimp.

I solder them, just be careful not to load them up with too much. I also solder them pointing vertically not horizontally...seems to work better that way.

What size power poles are you all using?
I used 30A ones but found it difficult to assemble when using 12swg cable. I thought i had bought the wrong ones. The alternative was to use 14swg cable which i was trying to avoid.

Excellent idea. I wouldn't use solder on top though, it's notorious for vibration cracking and taking the strands out with it.

I gather crimping is the preferred connection over soldering- less internal resistance.
That said I solder mine- 50A connectors.

I used to be a HGV/PSV fitter and the battery connection had to take 200 amps + . the original crimp ones from the makers often burnt out, our soldered ones never. Ive never understood that statement, must be from a pen pusher type, who has never seen the shop floor
