August 6, 201411 yr £2099 in some dealerships, so at £250 off it looks good. End of year models now of course so this is the time when bargains commence. Will an even better bargain crop up shortly, who knows? As with all buying, we could wait for ever for possibilities and never buy anything. .
August 6, 201411 yr Are you buying a bike or are you buying a bargain? If the former, then assuming this device is in stock you could be riding it by the weekend and have forgotten what you paid for it by next week. If the latter, then you can carry on trawling around for months and months and probably never buy a bike.
August 6, 201411 yr Its not going to be a bike we make in 2015, and demand is high. We've only got a couple of sizes left. No need for dealers to discount KTM to sell them. You won't find KTMs discounted in the UK. So I'd get in fast.
August 6, 201411 yr I've just been offered a brand new KTM ecross p for £1849. Should I go for it? yes, it's a very good deal. Your dealer must be pretty desparate. Who is it?
August 6, 201411 yr As Rob said, if it's the model you want, go for it ! I strugled to justify spending big money on my Cube reaction, now it don't even think about the cost, I'm to buissy enjoying riding it
August 6, 201411 yr I've just been offered a brand new KTM ecross p for £1849. Should I go for it? Had spoken to six KTM deals today and they had let me in on a secret, said that the 2014 model price will be ..............................by next month. I really hope this advice helps you making a very quick decision. MS.
August 6, 201411 yr Author It's a saving of under £200 on deals elsewhere. The shop has added £100 to the offer to cover my cycle to work charges. They also wants £35 for guards and a panniers rack . I feel \'d rather support a local dealer and have local support for the bike, and pay a bit extra/ It's just not enough to tempt me at the moment
August 7, 201411 yr It's a saving of under £200 on deals elsewhere. The shop has added £100 to the offer to cover my cycle to work charges. I'm always uncomfortable with this charge. 50 Cycles stuck it on my bike when I purchased it back in 2008, after we had agreed a purchase price. I nearly didn't go through with the deal. By being members of these cycle schemes, dealers presumably have a commercial advantage over those who aren't. If the same bike is stocked in several stores, a prospective purchaser is more likely to choose the store which participates in a cycle scheme because the savings are attractive (this assumes that the purchaser is eligible). In a way, cycle schemes are a form of marketing or advertising. Marketing and advertising costs money and I think that it is wrong for dealers to "tax" their customers in order to pay for their marketing. A bike shop tried this on me again last year, so I took my money to Samways in Derby and bought the same bike for the same base price, less £100 marketing tax. I suggest others do the same.
August 7, 201411 yr Author I agree Tillson.. It smacks of sharp practice .. The shop said they were selling the bike at cost and if it went through the cycle to work scheme they would lose money.. My thoughts are that they should have thought of that before offering the bike at the sale price.
August 7, 201411 yr The shop said they were selling the bike at cost . A wee bit of elasticity with their margin there, methinks.
August 7, 201411 yr Worth bearing in mind that some schemes charge dealers approx 10%. Therefore any bikes we sell under Cyclescheme (the scheme for independant retailers) are at full RRP because of this charge. However some schemes charge alot less (or nothing) so it depends on the individual scheme. Therefore if the scheme charges less most retailers may honour any offers they have on. Not sure why anyone would offer £200 off the eCross it is a great bike
August 7, 201411 yr The owner of my local bike shop told me about 20 per cent of new bike sales are Cycle to Work. He's content to supply the bikes, but they need to be at full price to make it worthwhile. Another impact of the scheme is it has all but killed his secondhand trade. Previously, a new bike sale often meant the old bike coming in, even if the owner only rode it to the shop to get rid of it and pick up the new bike. Cycle to Work customers don't part exchange, and many who might previously have bought a secondhand bike now take a new one on the scheme.
August 7, 201411 yr What about this one, is it the same bike? £1749.50 It took less than a minute to find it. http://www.surosa.co.uk/454196/products/ktm_ecross_p.aspx?origin=pla&kwd=¤cy=GBP&gclid=Cj0KEQjwx4yfBRCt2rrAs-P5vtkBEiQAOdFXbZK0FIqypb_w2SMRAFUQNSSL57q6spAlqC2GfKcEARgaAg_x8P8HAQ

August 7, 201411 yr the one musicbook was offered is this one (2014): http://mediacdn.shopatron.com/media/mfg/9781/product_image/thm/t700_da226cd5d0316b3c6dfc7d89c3c5743a.jpg John's link to the surosa.co.uk website is the older model with BionX motor.
August 7, 201411 yr that one has the old BionX motor. http://images.surosa.co.uk/images/ecross_blackmatt_ow.jpg There will be tears come new battery time if it is that one. I don't know if the situation is still the same, but BionX used to have a very greedy replacement battery pricing structure.

I don't know if the situation is still the same, but BionX used to have a very greedy replacement battery pricing structure. It may have eased a bit, the 36 volt 9.6 Ah is on sale in the USA for $750, down about 25% on what it was. So the UK price for it that was £1050 may now be lower. Even if down to circa £750 that's still horribly expensive for a smallish capacity battery. .
