Fascinating collection! Does it need to be so big though? Still trying to get my head round the differences between Yamaha and Bosch drive systems. The former seems to use 32-44 double chain rings and the latter single 16 front rings and a top guide wheel. Does that mean the Bosch system puts less strain on the chain? Presumably the motors internal gearing must be quite different to come up with similar torque figures (for what they are worth!) Also some models state the bike weight, others not.
There's actually two different versions of the Yamaha motor in their range, not all of them are the range topping PW-X. The more basic motor drops off power at higher cadences.
The small Bosch chainring is there so the motor doesn't have to be geared down as much, remember electric motors do very high RPMs, so to get them to a useful 60-120 cadence you have to put a gearbox in your crank drive unit.
The Bosch chainring turns about 2.5x for each rotation of the pedals, meaning it needs less gear reduction. The advantage of that is increased efficiency, less complexity and lower weight.
The downside is you can't use multiple chainrings.
