A battery can't cause stuttering, but stuttering can cause the battery to cut out. Whatever you do, don't use full throttle if the motor doesn't run correctly. There's a lot of potential causes of stuttering. The sensible first step is to check all the connectors between the controller and the motor, and check that the motor cable isn't damaged where it comes out of the motor. If that's all OK, you need a multimeter to measure resistance. Set it to the highest resisistance scale (200K?), disconnect the motor and battery from the controller, then measure between each motor phase wire and the black battery wire, and then the red battery wire so that you have 6 readings. They should be somewhere about 14K.
