OK, so it's got a small (6.6ah) battery, but interestingly, rear motor hub instead of front hub as usually found at this price point. Digital LCD, 36v, adjustable height handlebars, 7 speed, alloy frame and best of all 3 yr warranty. Not much not to like at this price

That would depend on the controller. I think it is what it is really, a nice cheap little e bike handy for popping round the shops etc. Once you start trying to upgrade anything that all adds to the overall cost in which case you'd be better off buying something around the £1000 mark with a bigger battery, stronger frame and so on.

I'm not sure which of the above bikes you mean. Probably all only pedal assist as full electric would bring it into a different category and need insurance, license etc. Though many buyers and quite a few sellers don't worry about that.

The Walk Assist to propel you to 6km/hr would be electric . This is usually by twistgrip throttle , lever throttle or by keeping your finger on a button .

Pay peanuts, get monkeys. At this price point it becomes a throw away object once any of the cheap components fails. Fine as an introduction to ebiking I suppose.

Range would depend a lot on conditions, hills and how much assist you use. I'd say around 10 miles, 20 if you are lucky on low assist.

My 24V Batribike Quartz with an 8 Ah battery using mainly middle assist would do 33 miles when new . Batribike quoted 25-35 miles . The Aldi Bikemate with 6.6Ah would do 20-25 miles with me riding . It looks excellent value for the money and the 3 year warranty would clinch it for many . An equivalent with a better specification is nearer £900 .
