can you explain the sizing information?
many thanks
Not simply, no.

My two-inch wide Marathon Supremes on the Rose 29er are marked 28" X 2.00.

They are not Pluses, but still have good puncture protection.

The wider the tyre, the less likely it is to puncture - despite your poor experience.

So if you see something in your preferred width and tread, provided it's still a Marathon, it is unlikely to let you - or itself - down.

I am being extremely unlucky picking up punctures. Now looking to replace tyres/tubes to something a bit more resilient.
Bike is a KTM Macina Action with 29" wheels, tyres are Schwalbe Rocket Ron 29x2.25" 57-622 Evo Folding, they seem paper thin.
Bike is mainly used for commuting on road/cycle path but I do enjoy taking it off-road at the weekend. Would be happy to try some hybrid type tyres.
Anyone got any recommendations?

Hi All.Everyone seems to be talking about Swhalbe ???Marathon + tyres and very expensive they are and being a bit of a cheapskate I bought 2xMoutainbike tyres for 13 odd quid the pair for my Freego Eagle on ebay and then put my old slime filled tubes in them and they have been great over the winter and with my 10 mile each way commute though some rough lanes and some main roads with lots of holes and they have been great and with the sandy soil here in Exeter there are lots of ruts in the lanes where the sand which washes onto the roads after the rain and they have saved me coming off a few times so all in all I am very pleased with the cheap tyres I bought and no punctures at all.Now what can I get forthe summer ??????

Ive just been to the garage to get my off road wheels of the shelf ready for the wet weekend and found my front Smart Sam Plus was flat.
Easy to find the hole as there was 15mm of blackthorn sticking through into the tube ( right in the middle of the tread )
I'll give it it's due as I needed a pr of pliers to pull it out, I'm just glad it stayed up while I was riding ;)

That sounds promising, I just ordered the 26in Smart Sams for the new eRace toy!
Previously used the Marathon MTB plus for over a year with no punctures, which on the flint shards and thorns of the Chilterns, convinced me. Not totally confidence inspiring on roads until they're worn in, but for an offroad puncture resistant tyre for a not particularly agressive or technically demanding rider, they fitted the bill. Would have bought for the KTM, but don't make them in 2.25, hence the Smart Sams.

I've been using liners for years, and I've never had a problem.

On my KTM Macina Race were 27,5" Schwalbe Rocket Ron's and got a lot of flats. Since I changed to Continental Race King ProTection 2.2's until now no flats.

I've used Conti Winters and Marathon Plus Tours on my Agattu since buying it and no punctures yet.

Marathon Plus MTB tyre on the rear of the Trek, on the motor wheel. Years-old Bontrager knobbly MTB tyre on the front as I couldn't get the M+ on the Bontrager race rim. 1st time I got it on but was slightly wonky and it had to come off after a few rides. Tried again and after an hour and the skin worn off my fingers and palms I gave up ! But .... no punctures yet from either tyre.

The point of all that faffing around, is that most of my biking is on bridleways and suchlike, and thorns are a significant hazard. And there isn't much faffing around - I use a thicker inner tube, which is as much faffing as a thinner on, and a kevlar tyre, which is as much faffing as any other tyre, and inserting the lining takes about one minute. So my additional faffing is aboutt a minute. If that wards off even just one puncture in five years, I'm quids in.

You're probably right. I doubt if most other people are riding an ebike over rough ground.

I haven't weighed it, but if you think about the weight of the thicker inner tube and of the insert, I'd guess less than a pound per wheel. Maybe even less than a pound for both. But for me, not getting a puncture while rough riding several miles from where I parked my car, is worth the extra weight!
