no - we are talking about very small probabilities of failure (0.1%-0.5% of number of rides). My contention is: choosing NuVinci over derailleur may not give you better peace of mind.

Well folks, I got my Impulse ergo nuvinci and - for me - it is the dog's danglies!!!! most of my journeys are about 25-30Kms and the bike performs on the hills I have encountered over the last week or so around my house. I find the NuVinci very good for my needs so al in all I'm a happy camper. It may not be so for everyone, but I am very glad I bought this bike.
