Green led usually indicates fully charged or if discharged bms not switching on. After checking the fuse if not working disconnect the bms multiwire jst and check all the parallel cell group voltages as one may be at fault, if one is too low < 3.2v or high 4.2 then your issue will lie with that group and it will need manually charging or discharging to allow balance charge to occur.

Also check charge port wire connection.

Make sure the charger when plugged to the mains is reading output of 54.6v at it's charge connector, if this is ok then you will need to carry out the basic checks I mentioned above first before carrying out further checks.

Yes, it is giving out 54.6v, i will open the battery up and make sure the connection is OK next. Cheers

When checking the cell voltages via the jst connector you should get 13 separate voltage readings on from the plug, depending how you measure with the probes the readings will all be singular in voltage like 3.7, 3.8v or whatever the cell voltage's are etc , etc for each of the 13 cell group readings or the readings will go up accumulatively so example 3.8, 7.6, 11.4v etc etc till you get to the 13th reading of about 49.4v.

List the 13 results on this thread so we can see them.

If any reading is way out then the fault will lay with the cell group, if all are similar then the fault will be elsewhere and will be a faulty wire connection or faulty bms.

Silly question so don't take it the wrong way.
If the battery has a switch is it on when charging ?

Just opened it up and it's a load of Samsung 18650 (2E65).

I left the new charger ON all night even though it was constant green.

I have just checked output V and its 48.7v !!!

It drops to 36.7v when you turn the battery switch off...

I am not sure whether i have disturbed something whilst opening it, i will have to strip back wires to access the +/- charging wires as EVERYTHING is just coated in glue.

I can't see where the BMS is, must be under the batteries which are all stuck down..

EDIT - There is 54.7v on the input...

WHY is the charger ALWAYS green though ??

I checked that..lol...Yes it has 54.7v at ALL times when plugged in/charging (On or OFF).

It only switches the output from 36.7/OFF and 48.7/ON.

Carefully cut back the black heat shrink plastic to expose the bms and you will see the large connector on one end. Also put some tape around that damaged red wire on the top of the pack.

It has 14 connections on the JST plug, what is my best method to measure the 13 voltages as above ?

Which end would be the negative ?

I will NEVER get a meter probe in the tiny plug ends, plus trying to measure on the outside of the plug will cause a short most probably or be inaccurate.

I am thinking of just 'plugging in' a small piece of sold core wire and measre from there..

I am also 'trying' to work out how many 18650's are actually in there but it's nearly impossible with the casing/double sided tape..

Thanks

In pic on #28 why is that wire damaged, is the bare wire broken giving a false /intermittent contact ?

Cut it re-solder together and insulate to insure that is not at fault.

RED end is negative, it then goes up in stages of 3.7ish...I will measure them now
You can leave first probe on red then the other probe on each wire to get an accumulative voltage reading or move the pair of probes along all 13 wires each time to get individual parallel cell voltages. I doing the latter be careful not to short contacts.

it will have 52 or 65 cells depending on if they are 4 or 5 in parallel.

I'm an industrial spark mate (Elec Eng), so no problem...Doing list now...Cheers

Charger light only shows red when it is charging, so for what ever reason the bms isn't switching on to allow current to flow so remains green .

As previously mentioned could be a low or high cell reading.
