Eddie if you are after an E-Bike as light as possible then surely the UM44S is a move in the right direction and a Wisper is not... ;) :D
Hows that? Maybe for you!:D a kg or two lighter, but only a 9 amp battery. Like I said hardly a step up from a Wisper...and a bit like swapping a Ford for a similar Vauxhall OR just changing a car because of the colour:D

The trailer sounds like a good idea I have thought about it for the odd trip to the supermarket etc. But, do wonder what the effects would be on the motor and the batteries would it stress either of them over duly?

It shouldn't be any problem zakmann. I've towed large and very heavy loads by e-bike for years, both with a Panasonic crank drive and and a hub motor bike:

Thank you Flecc. That is one load!!! I had no idea that an electric bike would pull all that.

Ok, so I'll have to start to think about it seriously and check with Ultra Motor to see if it will affect my guarantee/warranty.

Hi Zakmann,
No affect on warranty- as long as you don't try towing a car (!)

Thanks
Mark

OK, understand, it just seems that every comment is do damning of any model. The UM44S does only weigh in at a little above 21kg and has very low rolling resistance. You should give one a go :)

Hi Mark,

Thank you.

I was thinking more of something like those motor bike trailers one sees around occasionally - fully enclosed and lockable fibreglass (or whatever they're made out of) but ultralight - built specifically for bicycles.

Has anyone ever seen anything around that fits the description?

I'm afraid style is not a strong point in bicycle trailers, I don't know of anything available in the UK that gets anywhere near that description. There are some more enlightened designs in mainland Europe, but not much for goods carrying there even.

This is a major UK outlet for trailers, but not much stylish on the page.

Thanks, Flecc I see what you mean though, at least the trailers on the site are relatively light looking and practical.

The trailers I remember seeing were in Australia so they may have been special orders form one of the motor bike companies.

If I find anything I'll post it here for interest.

We have an A2B Metro and are very happy with it.

As a cyclist with plenty of other bikes I fail to see that it looks horrible or laughable. I am afraid those are terms I would apply to the normal e-bike which have a home-built Heath-Robinson look to me. I realise my perspective may not be the same as some but to me there is no point making something and not making it as stylish as possible which the A2B certainly is. Certainly that is the opinion of the non e-bike fraternity as the very positive comments to me from many on the road confirm.
