In place of the headphone jack, we find a component that seems to channel sound from outside the phone into the microphone... or from the Taptic Engine out.
No fancy electronics here, just some well-designed acoustics and molded plastic.

If you drill your phone, wash it out in distilled water and immediately place it in a bag of bismanti rice (not pudding rice) to avoid long circuits....

parts wise its about 200 bucks worth for the hole phone so i bet the case to get fixed buy apple will cost 200 quid plus vat as no parts to fix it on line.

Damn, I drilled a hole in my Yamaha lcd display on my Haibike to fit my headphones! Stupid really. I didn't need to, I could of just bought those new £180 wireless Apple headphones.
