Something must be wrong with the voting when a guy with as much personality as a wet cod can win personality of the year twice in a row and 3 times out of 4.

Yes that's certainly very odd. The votes are probably mistakenly on performance rather than personality.
Asking the public anything is usually a mistake!

Dont think Sports Personality of year has anything at all to do with my post and opinion...lets face it majority if voters wouldn't recognise a F1 if they were run over by one...
Nicki Lauda believes Lewis us best ever F1 driver and credits the Malaysian pole not down to car but purely Hamilton's ability. His comments are easy to find on both subjects. My point is simply very very few Brits see that ability in LH, as witnessed on here..Yes,I know NL works ( unpaid) for Merc but there is neither a more objective or knowledgeable person currently in F1.. I,ll accept his opinion on matter...
Lewis is amongst top 5 ever drivers and he is probably best ever. Us Brits fail to see his qualities, that is nothing at all to do with having an admiring public, which I,m not convinced he has. Go see what Italians think of no 46 at a Moto GP to see real appreciation.
And not just Italians, Valentino probably has the biggest following ever around the world for a Moto GP star.
But that's as much for his happy go lucky personality as anything else. They adore him as a person, not just for his racing, he's so full of fun.
He lived in London for years and counts Donington as his second Moto GP venue:

Again looking at the word personality.. Guy Martin has buckets of it..
His books are worth reading too...and he holds a few world records, he,ll never win SPOY or a TT but a talented bloke none the less...
I believe he,s done a 132 mph lap around Island so he,s no slouch...
Some of his world records are done using a specialist team and modern technology which the previous holders hadn't necessarily had, a good example being the tandem 24 hour record which he did on a special machine when tho last holders did it on an actual Tandem as we know it, but I watch all f his TV programs because I like him and find him entertaining.
Did anyone see the China bike ride he did? 341 miles through the desert in 27 hours! And if memory serves I think he did it on a fixi.

I think Lewis Hamilton is great. I don't like his tattoos but he is very human.
I think Valentino Rossi is the greatest sports personality of all time and I am not Italian. F1 drivers think Valentino is one of the greatest petrol heads on earth and many have said into a microphone they are not capable of doing what he does. Mick Doohan took Valentino under his wing, Agostini admires him (think about that) and even Spanish GP racers think he is great. Now there is a reference...
I stopped watching car racing when I saw Valentino the first time. It was magic, then he won 250 cc, then he won 500 cc, then he won MotoGP... He even menaced getting in a car but he said it was a little slow for him.

It adds to the entertainment.
Lets face it, if sport didn't entertain there wouldn't be any prize money, so the more entertainment, the more money comes in.

I think they did, but of course the selection to choose from is rigged.
The organisers pick the twelve most likely and the public can only vote for one of them. And they are obviously voting on performance rather than personality, since even Steve Davis won it once!

He was forecast to be runner up to Anthony Joshua, but I think the asthma drug story will have blown that.
That leaves Lewis Hamilton as the runner up to Joshua, so Hamilton could become one of the few double winners.
