Hello - I've lurked here for a while without introducing myself, but I feel now is the right time to say "hello". I've been an ebiker since October 2016, using a Woosh Bikes' Big Bear. A year ago I was an overweight mid-50s male living west of Malvern, Worcestershire. I'm now a slightly less overweight mid/late-50s male, but with 1600 miles under my belt. Roads locally are hilly (hence Malvern Hills) and those suitable for relaxed cycling are rough as a badger's whatsit. The Big Bear has fulfilled most of my hopes and is rugged enough to cope with our local roads. It's been an excellent investment from the objectives of getting out of the house without a car and increasing my own fitness.
That said, having completed a year's riding, I have begun to enter/ re-enter the world of learning about bike maintenance and getting the best gear ratios for my riding style. This week, after 1600 miles, I'm replacing the chain (worn out), freewheel gearset and chainring on the Big Bear to get more out of the bike for my riding style. Nothing intrinsically wrong with the bike, but I now know enough to start tinkering with it and buying obscure bits of kit. Looks like I'm hooked on bikes again. My wife's joy is boundless.....
