I got a phonecall today from a stranger, who said he'd been given my number from a guy that new that I could fix electric bikes. He said that he had an an electric bike that wouldn't charge. Could I help?
He brought the bike to me, and my charger wouldn't charge it either, so I asked him about the history of his kit. To cut a long story short, it turns out that the guy that bought my first electric bike (Sunlova) from me took all the electrical kit off and put it on a Landrover mtb and then eventually sold it on to this guy, so here I am reaquainted with my Sunlova stuff after three years. It's been running great all that time, now over 4 years old. This guy uses it for his every day transport as he has no car.
I had a spare frog battery that I'd never use, so I put it on and he went away happy. I guess that the battery had finally expired after all that time and miles. I won't bother repairing it, but I'll have the BMS for spares.
That gave me a really warm feeling because when I sold it, I was a little worried about how long it would last as I did about 2000 miles on it.
